LPG Conversion
i need help to find a good garage to do an LPG conversion on a Honda Jazz. i want the latest multi part injection system. i'm not worried about finding the cheapest but i do want the best.

You could do worse than talk to the guy at "L Service" (I think). If he couldn't do the job for you, he'd certainly point you in the right direction. He speaks quite reasonable English.

on a honda jazz wich is cheap to run the saving is about 1 baht a kilom. pay back time about 30k. if as promised oil hits 200 u.s. them 91 gasahol will cost about 54 baht litre. Lpg then 13/14 baht. payback time then 7500k.
i think high oil prices are here to stay and so its worth doing.

electric has a short range. in a bigger car then my choice NGV and not LPG. apparently Thailand has its own NGV offshore so the price shoul be stable. LPG they import.
the main problem with NGV is the size of the tank because its stored at such a high pressure it needs a very strong tank.

Yes, you are right about the size of the tank. At the moment they are only using the one small size tank for NGV, and it therefore has limited range, and it is also very heavy. You are also right about the supply of NGV, (CNG), Thailand has a big reserve and also imports from Burma.miked wrote:Cowtown Comedy,

The infrastructure for the distribution of NGV is not as extensive as LPG at the moment, but PTT are expanding the number of outlets. (there is one in Hua Hin).
With a small car you will probably be ok with NGV. but I have to disagree with you regarding bigger vehicles. I researched it thoroughly and had to go with LPG, which has worked out fine. I had it converted in Bangkok, so sorry I cannot help you with any installers in Hua Hin. The installation does have to be inspected by the Land Transport Dept, and a notation made in their records. They seem to be on top of the safety angle, but be aware that there was a recent accident where a rogue installer had used a scrap tank for NGV.

I noticed when I was back in March that a service station heading North on the right, somewhere around Index had started selling gas. I think it was NGV but I don’t remember for certain, it might have been LPG.
As Nereus mentioned above, a recent article in the Bangkok Post was highlighting the problem of unscrupulous dealers fitting tanks that should have been scrapped.

not a problem to get Lpg but if you do run out you can switch back to petrol anytime. even though my car does something like 53mpg on 91 gasahol i don't want to be filling up at 50 baht when i can fill up for 13 baht.
mind you if oil goes to 200 u.s as forcast God help us all. petrol will be the least of our problems.

i don't think electric bikes are a good idea. problem after a couple of years the battery will go and it will cost an arm and a leg.the step through bikes be it honda yamaha are so cheap, good quality and spares are easy to get. look after it i'm sure it will do 100,000k.
with the car i will have the LPG done and keep the car till it or i falls apart. i do think that 50 baht a litre petrol wii be on us this year. better than u.k though. diesel now £1.20 a litre. LPG in u.k 55p a litre, conversion about £1000.
