Jazzfest Newbie questions?
HNow is the seating... A pic looks like it's butt in sand? Are there paid sections with better seats... I guess those at the Hilton and Sofie will be ion good shap for viewing? Do they normally close off the hotel area to guests only. I'm at the Sofie and they have no info via e-mail as to the event! Any review from past attentee's?

It tends to be as you stated butt in the sand type seating. To be honest I just wandered around gazing at everyone in a drunken stupor, trying my best not to sweat to death.
The big hotels dont rope off any beach as they are practically on it. You will be able to hear the music from your beautifuly candle lit pool table which ever one you are staying in, but the atmosphere on the beach is well worth checking out at some point.
If your into photography there are plenty of good oppurtunities to snap away...

Since there is only one stage again I expect the crowds to be bigger than last year. Get there early if you want to get a good spot on the sand or you can pay a bit for a vip seat and watch a line of people going past you to and from the stage!
If you're staying in the hotel you have the best of both worlds!

Apparently there are going to be other jazz venues at the Pone Kingpetch Park (by the water company and opposite the TOT office) and by the railway station but no announcement as to what or who will be there. However this is closer to the spirit of the original festival which was a blast, so should be good news and spread the crowds around a bit.
