Furnishing a condo help.

Post by Dianachris »

Hi everyone
My first visit to the forum. After years of holidaying in Hua-Hin we have taken the plunge and bought a holiday for now, then semi retire here condo in the town.It will be ready December this year and will need furnishing.Looked on-line and can only find Index ?.Can anybody tell me the best place for electrical purchases, fridgefreezer TV etc.and also a comfortable sofa bed and twin beds?Is Market village the easiest place for bedding lights crockery and utensils etc.?In england I'd head for Ikea or Habitat. We don't want to be in a hotel for too long so want to find things asap. Not really the sort of things we noticed on our holidays here.Cheers.

Winners are very good about 600 metres up the road towards Cha am on the opposite side. With winners nearly every thing we bought was same day delivery Index 3 week wait.
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

We were in a similar situation last year and I can recommend Index for bedding, crockery etc etc. They seemed very well aware of the sort of things we would need and pointed us in the right direction. Next to Index is Pure Electrics - very similar to Currys in the UK over the time we have been here we have bought several items there and most were delivered same day or within 24 hours depending on what time of day we were there.

Home Pro at Market Village is also very good but not everything you see in there is in stock.

When we moved here we spent 3 nights in a hotel before moving into our house and although things were a tad spartan when we moved in we had managed to buy and have delivered the basics that were needed.

Any help you need please do not hesitate to ask.

As mentioned Winner is also a good store, in fact once you are here you will discover a whole host of good places to buy things but I have to say Index is a very good place to start when it comes to basics.

Almost opposite Market Village (a little further) - you can't miss it if you're looking for it. Depending on what you're looking for, how urgent it is and your budget, I'd also spend an hour driving around - there are a few places worth looking at. If I could remember their names and exactly where they were, I'd tell you...
This is the way

Winner has some ok stuff amongst the crap,Index is Index.Great for accessories but pricy on things like bed and sofas etc.For the price of a double bed in index (flatpack mdf type) you can get a handmade four poster from siam old teak .Mark & Ya will buy anything back from you at the price you paid for it which is a great upside .Downside is that if its not in stock delivery time can be quite long sometimes .www.siamoldteak.com The products are superb and a fraction of the price you would pay at home .The big stores do a lot of special deals so shop around .They will also negotiate if you are buying a lot of stuff .I recently purchased a truckful of urns and a load of artwork for one of our houses .The exact same stuff was over 3 times the price in the market village .It may be worth your while to hire a professional shopper .Ours saves us a fortune .

Hi there,
I would wait and see -if it's going to be your holiday home for years to come, what's the rush?
Try Winners, Big Kiang and Index +Homepro for things you really need urgently.
For the rest I would make a trip up to Chiang Mai, and also check out some of the other more specialised shops around HH for nice and decent furniture

Good luck!

I had a friend who wanted a kitchen for his place. He found the prices very high for the quality offered so he had a carpenter quote for the job. Now he has a lovely real wood kitchen and it diddn't cost any more than a flat pack one. He lives near me in Issan (so not much help to you) but I bet you could find one local to Hua Hin... :D

Hi,
I´m almost finished furnishing my new home. This is my experiences: SB-furniture (at HomePro) best for beds, Winner, and Konzept (also at HomePro) - low/midrange prices - good for all types of furnitures (wardrobes, tables etc). Index best range of accessories/utilities. Outdoor furniture: Blue Lotus on Petchkasem Road (opposite Shell). For the final touch (lamps, wall decoration etc) go to Asian Living (next to Land Office on the way to Pranburi)!
Good luck! :P
