GBP has hit 45 after being in the doldrums. I'm around a week away from my normal transfer. I'm tempted to do it now but if I do what's the betting it'll go higher.

The Bank of England interest rate meeting is at 7.00pm Thai time today. Inflation continues to increase and it is expected they will increase the current rate by a further 25 basis points - hence the reason for its strengthening - we shall see?

At 7.15pm I checked some rates after the BoE did increase stg interest by 25 basis points
Kasikorn Bank closing rate for TT sterling buying was 44.91 so interesting what it will be tomorrow.
Wise was quoting 44.91 for a £1,000 transfer and 45.16 for a £5,000 transfer

Maybe a new name is required - now to be known as HHTel law?

Haha. Yep, I can control the exchange rate. If I transfer early then it'll get better and if I wait, then it'll get worse.

I'm open to bribes!!

For once I got it right. Transferred on the 9th and got 44:60. And it is now digging dirt at 44 dead and still dropping.

Very unusual for me.

Here's a challenge for bored people.

Find a currency in the world that hasn't tanked against the baht.

I can't find one but I'm not that bored.

That is why the USA has put Thailand on the currency watch list as a potential currency manipulater.

The USD-THB was trending a nice yearly upwards and the past month taking a right nose-dive.

Can't imagine that the Ukraine crisis is helping European currencies much.

Looks like the pound is taking a hit. Down more than a baht in a week and 6 or 7 cents on the dollar.

There is a war in Ukraine so what with oil and gas from Russia and massive global wheat exports not going from Ukraine and Russia etc etc stock all financial markets are down. As the US dollar is the currency of last resort( which it has been for some decades) it is no surprise and until counties step up and properly arm Ukraine so that Putin fails most FX rates will decline.

I accept that, but why has the pound been hit more than pretty much every other currency.

GBP is down against all major currencies, the various dollars, Euro, many many more. It's down against the Indian Rupee and even the Rouble FFS! All in the last week. Why?
