1 month entry

Post by c.g »

We have friends coming over later this year below is a email they sent me regarding the 1 month stamp and if they leave can they come back in and get another 1 month stay??

We plan on coming over in december for 3 months . before we came last time we heard that the visa laws had changed but our passports were stamped for 1 month as usual. we have looked on the internet trying to find info as we plan on visiting other places while we are there eg .laos ,vietnam cambodia and maybe macau .the only info we have found is confusing and different sites seem to contradict each other. we are thinking about spending a week or 2 in thailand first then travelling for maybe a month then coming back to thailand for the remainder of the time .we don't want to risk being refused re-entry

Lomumart will be along as soon as he finishes cooking his weevils, I`m sure.
But in the meantime, if you are travelling on a passport from a visa exempt country (uk for example), then you will get 30 days on arrival / entry. You can do this as many times as required, EXCEPT that you cannot spend more than 90 days total in any 180 day period. If you want to exceed that limit then you need a visa of some form, OR you must stay out of the country for 90 days, when the cycle can be commenced again. Hope that helps.

You're friends will be fine. The law is no more than 90 accumulative days in The Kingdom during any 6 month period (on the 30 day visa exempt stamps). The 6 months starts counting from the date of their first entry.
There is no limit to the number of times you can enter over that period, as long as they don't total more than 90 days here.
Tell your friends to have a prepaid ticket of some sort out of Thailand when they first arrive. It's not so much Imm in BKK that may cause a fuss, but check-in for their flight over.
PS: I assume that they don't have any other entry that might start the clock ticking prior to December. If they havn't been here since May/June this year, there won't be a problem with re-entry.

was it the lesser of two weevils?

My tip would be get a multiple entry tourist visa before you come. That way you avoid having to do the sodding visa run every 30 days, and should you wish to come back here at short notice still have stamps you can use without hitting the visa on arrival cycle.....

believe me....Ranong and back isnt fun every 30 days....its a pain every 90!

Going back to the OP's question, the visitors won't have a problem at all if the travel plans are as stated.
No need for a Tourist Visa - whether single or otherwise entry. Easy. And the border runs will be done anyway, by the sounds of things.
EDIT: they may have to do another border run if their second stay here is for longer than 30 days. Again, no problem as the 90 days isn't exceeded within 6 months - it's not 180 days and that can make a difference.
