Ranong in July

Post by sandman67 »

Just did a visa run to Ranong

not much to report

the new pier based immigration point seems to work better, and faster turnaround. TAKE A PEN....the guy at the desk was not the usual smiley bloke from the main station and made a bit of a scene about lending me his biro....the fact all the ones out on the counter have been nicked may explain that ;-)

Boat does less stops.....seems the Thais have cut down on the number of times the boatmen check in, and the customs check is very very cursory....I got flagged by because I was the only one in my boat....so faster there and back.

Burma is still the same rathole from hell......still need a copy of your passport biodata page.

Sunday seems a good day to go - not as busy and roads quieter..... there and back in 11.5 hrs all done, and not going at breakneck speed at all.
