I plan to move in August in Thaïland and i would like to know what's the best airline to transport my dog (Labrador Retriever) from France to Thailand and what's the price ?

I brought my Jack Russell over two and a half years ago from England and used Emirates as they are reckoned to be pet friendly and happily that proved to be the case.One problem I had was that she had to fly from Manchester to Dubai 8 hours before me as I was told she needed 12 hours in Dubai in case they wanted to examine her but then she travelled with me to Thailand on the same plane in the cargo hold.
You will need a proper transportation carrier for your dog which has a bowl for water fixed to the inside but no food is allowed.These are quite expensive and I paid £72 for the one I have for my dog and she is small so prepare yourself for quite a price.
The fare from Manchester to Thailand was more expensive than my fare and cost £740!
My dog was 1 years old when I brought her over and had been micro chipped,injected for all sorts and was examined 24 hours before she flew and had all the correct paperwork but I still had problems at this end.They wanted to give her 25 days quarantine and took her to the cargo hold near the airport where I saw her.To cut a long story short I had to pay 20,000 Baht next day to the cargo handling people and another 1000 Baht to the vet for her release.
I heard that I should have booked her on board as "hand luggage" and would have got her withoiut paying but I cannot confirm this.

Friends had a similar experience bringing their cats into the country - basically the animals were held to ransom!

OK, I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, but is this 21000 Baht fee to compensate them for loss of revenue through not putting your animals in to quarantine?

Surely, if Thailand do have quarantine laws, it is you at fault. Your bribery of the officials could be putting the nation at risk. Did you actually research the matter properly before despatching your pets?

Wouldn't it be easier and give you better reference if you enquired about this with the airlines there in France, or a Veterinarian there in France who specializes in preparing animals for shipment overseas?

News from people here will be dated, and most likely not with a flight originating in France. Pete

I flew my retriever from Bangkok to Athens booked on a flight turkish airlines to go via Ankara dogs fare 16 euro per kilo. At the airport they changed my flight to go via Frankfurt flying luftansa air fare for the dog 30 euro per kilo. The travel agent was is in the wrong so they paid the difference in the fare of 14 euro per kilo. dog wighed 28 kilo.
On checking in they weighed the cage not the dog so I gained.
My advice is to check with each airline to see what they charge, rates are not standard.
