Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear, Admin, where's the emoticon for laughter with tears streaming down my face ? :neener:

:D I'm glad I've made somebody happy - it always makes you feel good to put a smile on somebody's face :D

(in the absence of being able to think of a sarcastic response - yes, you've beat me for now) In the unlikely event of Australia getting to play England, we'll see who's smiling then.

Socceroos beat Europe kings Bangkok Post 26 may 2006.

Still no interest in the game itself, but it is the sort of headline we could get to like.

Let's face it Hungary were poor and we were not an awful lot better.
Walcott did nothing when he came on.
We are in for a big disappointment in this World Cup.
It is being hyped up far too much !! :guns: :cuss:

KD,

For a first warm up, it was brilliant. Apart from one moment of Hungarian brilliance, there was no threat to the England goal. Most similar England games in the past have ended up 0-0 or 1-0

As for Walcott, what were you expecting in 30 minutes of a debut match? Let the rest of the world think he's a no-hoper, and then let him shock them. Have you actually seen him play? Given the chance, he will outpace any player in a one on one situation - I hope you will be surprised.

Anyway, lets keep crowing whilst it lasts. The media spend enough time bringing the team down/criticising them. And when they do eventually lose.............remember, its only 2 years until we're going to win the European Cup. England Glory is only ever a maximum of 2 years away.

Bring on them Jamaicans :guns: :rasta:

BB

The last bit of England glory was 1966 which was rather longer than 2 years ago. Just when did we last win any competition ??
Aaron Lennon had far more about him when he played.
Walcott looked out of his depth and nowhere near as good as Lennon in the B match last week.
Owen is not fit.
Sven still does not have a "Plan B" :cuss:
Plusses were Gerrard is still class and this is from an Everton supporter,Joe Cole played well and Becks showed that he can still deliver a dead ball but pity about the rest of his game.

You are deluding yourself BB
Jamaica now there is a footballing nation to strike fear into everyone!! I don't think so !!

KD,

Sorry, maybe glory was the wrong word - maybe dream is more appropriate.

As I said, Lets crow while we can - we don't get that many opportunities.

Why not wait till there is something to crow about. Hungary or Jamaica are not worth it.

A win is a Win, I am sure most of the people from Wales would love to be in a position of being in the World Cup and winining pre world cup friendlies.

The fact of it is you are not, you were just not good enough to get there, and are no place to really judge whether a 3-1 win over Hungary in a friendly is a good result.

It is all about building team confidence and being ready to perform at the top level in 10 days time, as far as that is going, things look to be OK.

When and if you ever get to the finals again and win it, you may be able to sit there and pass jugment. Other than that, your comments tend to lend to the jealous side of countries that hardy ever or never qualify but would love to be there.

You're right - we would love to be in that position, but as we are not does it mean we are excluded from commenting on or watching the events of the next few weeks? Let's be honest, the game was a bit of a no win situation for England. Lose and get slaughtered by the press (again), win and everyone expects that anyway. Alan Hansen (who I would imagine knows a bit more about international footy than any of us) commented at half time it was one of the worst games he'd ever seen! Hardly a glowing reference. England are not a bad side, they're in with a shout. Their current world ranking is probably about right IMO. We're all about to find about how good they really are.
Gerrard - 6.5 for the dive, legs weren't in the pike position! :D

Tono, I did not get to see the game, only read the reports that were on the Sun website, and all seemed very positive.
Anyway, personally I think that this is England's best chance at winning that they have had for a long time. They have a good squad, and with a bit of luck most of them should still be around in 4 years time.
If we do not win or get to the final, then so be it, but if Mclaren carry on from what we have here at present, will will only be stronger.

Now just try and get your facts right. I live in Wales because of my work but I am English and come from Liverpool. So I am quite aware as to what consitutes a good performance on a football field. You should know all of this Chelsea as we have been through all of this before. RIP Peter Osgood now having Brian Labone marking him out of the game again :lach:
I support England and hope that they do well but I am being realistic. A win against a poor Hungary side is nothing to get excited about. Against Brazil yes that would be something to get excited about.
