In 2017, AirHelp created a benchmark in airport excellence. Applying rigorous methodology similar to our airline rankings, AirHelp Score for airports gives you the low-down on how well the world’s big hubs are delivering for passengers.
The score is calculated like this:
45% On-Time Performance
45% Quality of Service
10% Social Media Sentiment
Kuwait airport was found to be the worse performing, according to the study.
British airports fared particularly poorly, with four UK airports, London Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh all making the top 10.
The top airport in the world, with its beautiful gardens, luxurious rest areas, free cinema and theme park was Singapore Changi, followed by Munich, Germany and Hong Kong.
When it comes to airports, Bangkok continues to be cited in global forums as one of the most congested and capacity-deficient cities in the world.
Alexandre de Juniac, director-general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), recently put a spotlight on Suvarnabhumi, among others, for facing bottlenecks.
The Airports of Thailand Plc expects to cram 59 million passengers for the year to September (2017), against its 45-million-passenger annual handling capacity.
The expansion of Suvarnabhumi, which includes construction of a third runway and second passenger terminal, will cost over 110 billion baht and requires four years to be completed.
After the expansion, Suvarnabhumi’s annual passenger handling capacity will increase to 90 million, although industry experts expect the incremental capacity to be absorbed by then.

For me, Munich beats Singapore because it has its own brewery:

Suvarnabhumi is just a crowded, sweaty shopping mall where you can catch flights.

Don't forget the very long waits at immigration. 1 hour plus seems to be the most recent info. No foreigner is going to give any airport a good poll rating with that kind of poor service, especially after a 12 hour flight. Immigration really needs to get knocked down a few notches. They seem to think they are supreme and deserve to lord over each foreigner who arrives, lives here or otherwise interacts with them in some way. Pete

I agree, no class, no style just a not-very-friendly second level shopping mall and an immigration staff to welcome you to the "Land of Surly Indifference"

Re: Crowded Suvarnabhumi nosedives in airport ranking
It's no surprise that London Gatwick is the second worst airport, it's a complete sh*thole. It's also my local airport, since I live just 20 minutes away and use it more often than I'd like.
Gatwick has perfected the art of treating passengers more like criminals than paying customers, herding them through various processing stations and barking orders with utter contempt for everyone.
As for the IATA score of "social media sentiment", it's just as well it's only a 10% weighting as it's almost always utter garbage.

I've only ever used Gatwick once, but found it a far nicer experience than the one found at the hell hole known as Heathrow.
