You got it.
IMO that's a terrible locationusual suspect wrote:Photo of the Maldives site c/o Google Earth...(behind Rock Zone)
According to the Rock Zone owner, he doesn't know what is happening to the site BEHIND him. He said he had heard about bars but now wasn't sureusual suspect wrote:Photo of the Maldives site c/o Google Earth...(behind Rock Zone)
All good and well, but what's the attraction to the punter?thecolonel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 8:01 amI think the attraction quite simply is cheap 'affordable' rents
If I recall correctly Wonderland started out at 6000/month, whereas some places on Bintabaht were 70k/month
Coupled with the fact that the majority of Thai ladies, especially married ones, dream of being a bar owner and a boss to some girls who give her a cut of some farang action. It's their absolute utopia
Sadly, whether or not it's still a viable business proposition seems to go out of the window.
And of course it's handsome man farang husband/boyfriend who foots the bill when it has to close or be sold at a loss
Off the top of my head? No monopoly..and that is always a good thing for the consumer. Interested to see how that shakes out. Plenty of interesting deals to be had, I (hope) think.caller wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:01 amAll good and well, but what's the attraction to the punter?thecolonel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 8:01 amI think the attraction quite simply is cheap 'affordable' rents

The best deal may be no bar fine.

Spot on DBDannie Boy wrote:I left the bar scene more years ago than I care to remember, but when I did visit the main attractions were the staff, to a lessor extent music and or TV facilities/pool/darts. Prices were generally the same in most bar areas give or take a few Baht, so I’m sure that it’s the staff (and hostesses) that will be the main attraction. As somebody else inferred, a Chang is a Chang, although even there, serving it at the right temperature can be an attraction - you could say that the only thing worse than a cold Chang is a warm Chang!!
Meant to post this last week.....thecolonel wrote:According to the Rock Zone owner, he doesn't know what is happening to the site BEHIND him. He said he had heard about bars but now wasn't sureusual suspect wrote:Photo of the Maldives site c/o Google Earth...(behind Rock Zone)
However, he told me that the site OPPOSITE him on the corner(hoarded up this last week) was going to be a "beer house". Wonder if he means beer garden as its a very large site for one pub
Maybe, that kills the Maldives project or maybe it actually improves that location(wouldn't be difficult)
But surely it would be wise to wait until its open to reassess?

The Authorities were walking around Bintabaht too checking they had all the relevant measures in place. So some were closed there also.thecolonel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 5:04 am Oasis got completely closed down last night following a visit from the authorities
Even Cheers Bar looked half closed and no live music on
