Pizza in Hua Hin
Re: Pizza in Hua Hin
I’ve only tried 2 pizza places in HH, admittedly a very limited experience.
California Pizza – never again, weird soft cheese, like a cheap substitute.
And, the pizza place (Petits Plaisirs?) next to Gourmet supermarket in Bluport.
The margarita is pretty good if you like a thin pizza, and with the right kind of chewy cheese with a tangy tomato paste, about 220 baht.

Isn't that actually in Gourmet Market? I saw that amongst a few other things they did a selection of pizzas.
Talk is cheap
Re: Pizza in Hua Hin
OK – ‘in the Gourmet Market’.
The ball of dough does seem to be just out of the fridge, but the thin base of the pizza is freshly baked and has the right taste and texture.
Not a disappointing ‘biscuit’ like a frozen pizza warmed up.
I’ve had the pasta there that was also good.
The new chief takes a break and now closes the place for an hour or two, late afternoon.

Another good place for pizza is Little Italy on Selakam Road in the Bintabaht area
Often have one delivered to whichever bar we are in
Had one brought around by one of the bar girls last night

My current favorites are Dorigo and Pizza Garden

I love pizza at Dorigo. Very nice. I am, however, not a fan of Pizza Garden. I’ve gone three times. It just misses the mark on the taste of the crust. It’s ‘off’ but I can’t put my finger on what makes it taste so weird to me. It’s also very floppy; not crispy at all, when you get just a short way in past the edge. I wrote a detailed review of the place last month on Google Maps.

Even at 300 it's not overpriced versus other places

I probably shouldn't say this as there most likely will be a queue down the whole 102 on the next visit, but after a visit today I have to say you hit the nail on the head regarding the Lakeside restaurant and the pad krapaho pizza. That pizza at that price, just amazing.Jack_Batty wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 1:42 pmLately I have been enjoying the mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage pizza at Volare on soi 102, across from Little Duck. Very good pizza. There is also a phad graprou pizza at Lakeside Bar that is phenomenal. I order it with two eggs cooked on top. Heavenly pie.

I like the combo of 50/50 Hawaiian and Laarb. Seems they'll put anything you like as a topping.

Re: Pizza in Hua Hin
I’ve finally tried Rolling Stone pizza. Two weeks in a row, I ordered the same pie; meat lovers with extra cheese, add jalapeños, mushrooms, and black olives.
The first pie I had delivered was extraordinary. It was the most reminiscent of a tavern-style pizza in the US that I have had here in Thailand. I was really impressed. The ingredients tasted fantastic, the crust was perfectly cooked and delicious, and they did not skimp on the extra cheese. The leftovers, crisped up in the skillet the following day, were even better.
The following week I ordered the same pie. Again, delivered to my home. A lot was different. They forgot the extra cheese and everything just tasted blander. The crust was soggy and flop city. I had to go to 7-Eleven to buy slices of mozzarella to make it seem the same. I will say that the leftovers the next day, again, crisped in a skillet, were super fine. I’ve included side by side photo comparisons of the two pies I got.
Would I recommend Rolling Stone? Absolutely. I will definitely order another pie this week or next week, but there might be some inconsistencies. Overall, I did like the product I got.

First time I’ve heard a pizza called a pie, but that aside, both look very substantial and at least two meals worth in each pizza (pie)!!

It's not just pizza that is inconsistent. Country wide restaurants lose cooks all the time, especially when a big holiday like New Year and Songkran when they simply don't return to work from the holiday.

Yeah, that’s probably another one of those Americanisms. We call ‘em pies.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 2:58 pm First time I’ve heard a pizza called a pie, but that aside, both look very substantial and at least two meals worth in each pizza (pie)!!
