Styles of music available at local Hua Hin bars?
Hi guys, seems a lot of bars, pubs and clubs in Hua hin have Football and darts...thats ok of course but here in Oz we do it different.
Ive notice some talk about music being available around town so could someone inform me as far as the music is concerned what is on around town weather its live or dj or just a cd being played in the background, and if its nightly.
Example....Brown Sugar in BKK over the road from Lampini park has 2 bands on every night of the week first starts around 9 pm and is more your soulful/blues dinner type, second comes on around 11 and is your big band Earth Wind and Fire style ( they cover that band quite a lot).
Im prefer latin and reggae but i wouldnt expect much of a calling for it there still anything with a beat will do except that CLUB sound thump cthump.
Thanks for the anticipated reply's.

I think you'd be better off going to Pattaya or Puhket. Hua Hin is a nice quiet town.bladerunner2120 wrote:Hi guys, seems a lot of bars, pubs and clubs in Hua hin have Football and darts...thats ok of course but here in Oz we do it different.

My experiences have found certain bars that do not have a live band but do have a fair variety of music. Tell them what you want and they will find it or go and borrow it from another bar

This is an interesting topic to me as well as when my wife and I recently visited Chiang Mai we found many live music venues that were good restauants that had soft (live) music during the dinner hours (8 to 10) followed by really good R'n B, Blues or Jazz, (and the performers were really talented!) starting at around 10 p.m.
We were wondering if there were good places like this in Hua Hin as we really enjoyed them.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I found most of the Thai bands play late night in the Thai clubs in town, ok if you want to pay double prices for your drinks and have your ear drums explode.

There arent any buildings big enough to house a decent sized club.... the bars here are converted fisher houses or plots they stood on - think small. To do a decent sized pub you would need 4 or more adjoining bars, knock em all into one, then decorate and set up.... then get a proper license. In Hua Hin.... good luck.
The Luk Nam is the local proper Thai roadhouse pub... forget it you aint gonna beat that formula.
In a way Im glad the UK club scene left HH behind. If I want to listen to that drivel I just walk outside, kick the car, and listen to the alarm going off for 20 mins or so

There's some great cover bands around in Thailand. Finding them is the problem - and as Sandman rightly says most HH bars are simply too small. I've seen good musicians in Bangkok, Pattaya, and HadYai, but always by accident!
HH does seem to be gaining a reputation for jazz - and it's annual jazz festival - otherwise just be thankful that most copies of Hotel California have been either broken or lost....

yes experiences tells me that thai clubs can be small, theres one i often visit when in BKK, its only about 3.5 m wide and about 30 m long the ceiling of the mezzanine floor can easily be touched when puting your hand up to spin a girl...that happend once while dancing with a very tall Swedish girl.
Brown Sugar is a lot of poky rooms...well it seems like that...still it doesnt take to many people in any of those places to give a nice vibe.
It might be time for a Latin bar in Hua hin, BKK have had several going for years, the music is popular with a lot of people...though the stuff ive heard over there is dated somewhat.
Some might think i was interested in girlie club bars playing that NOISE so to set you at ease...im not....i like music....and i like a lot of styles, latin and reggae are my favorites i like to dance too if the music is good.
Im getting a picture now of Hua Hin bars
