Laptop disc drive

Post by Pagey »

HP Pavilion laptop disc drive has stopped reading/playing discs. It's about 4 or 5 years old. Only used for internet surfing in the main and only occasionally.

Any ideas ? Easily fixed or upgrade ?

External USB multi R/W drives are cheap. I just bought a Samsung one for my Netbook and it works fine.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Funily enough, I did exactly same thing for mine last week. I paid £18 in the UK.

Just be careful with an external disc drive I bought one when my DVD drive packed up but it was not compitable with my computer despite what is said on the box my computer crashed instantly! Fortunately all I had to do was take the battery out and put it back in but it might not always be that easy. Never tried the external drive again I got a replacement internal drive instead more expensive but compatible!

That sounds like a faulty drive trying to take too much power from the computer, or a damaged USB port on the computer. External DVD drives are a standard commodity and compatible with all USB enabled PCs & Macs.
