Nation's League 2022-23

Post by Lost »

Our squad for the nation's league has been released. Surprised Dier isn't in there, he's been better this season than all the others in his position in the squad. On Eric Dier, Southgate said it was better to give the younger players a run in the side during this tournament. If he keeps up his form into next season, I expect him to be at the world cup.

An impressive debut season in Italy sees Tammy Abraham get a place. Rashford and Sancho thankfully nowhere near the team.

I don't trust children. They're here to replace us.

6 Chelsea academy players in that squad. I wish they were all still at Chelsea.

/\ Don't worry, Harry Maguire will take them under his wing and offer them solid footballing advice.    :naughty:

However 880 England fans subject to football banning orders will have to hand in their passports before the game.
It would be interesting to know which club sides those 880 fans claim to support. In my day of following England overseas it would have most definitely have been Chelsea fans leading the table. That was some 45 years ago. I am certainly interested to know if the demographic has changed.

Having said that, they were clever, and forced 'innocent' England fans to do their evil bidding.

Well considering the opposition and the amount of players out/not used for Wales, it was decent display and promising from new caps/fringe players.

Now for Sunday!! :thumb:

I’ve just wasted 1.1/2 hours watching a dismal performance by England who can have no complaints after losing 1-0. Can’t think of a single player who justified their position - probably one of the substitutes Grealish was the best of a bad bunch!!

:agree:

I hope Tuesday is a vast improvement. If not, I think we will be relegated with Germany and Italy in our group. Last night was a must win, but turned out to be a didn't try.

A typical snorefest from Southgate's men. Feel sorry for the elite players in the team. Going from the likes of Conte, Klopp, Pep and Tuchel to...

... Gareth.

Do these guys get any real time off in the course of a year? Yes, I know they are paid like kings but regardless, they are still human and need a break. I think 1 full month off out of 12 should be mandatory for physical and mental reasons.

Don't forget, most careers are over by the time they get to their early 30s. Plenty of time off then.

This year is a bit different than normal with the World Cup being played in Nov/Dec instead of the normal June/July, so things are being condensed somewhat and the top players who play for their countries are not getting much time off - the others still get a reasonable break. As BB said, most careers are over by their mid 30’s so although they have an intense 15-20 year playing period, they then have a long time to adjust, but as we have seen on numerous occasions, some handle the transition better than others.
