Re: Dusit Zoo to close at the end August

^^ Totally agree, good riddance! I went there in 1991 and was so disgusted I never went back, though I think they did make some improvements since then. I wonder how many of the animals being moved out now will still be alive to move into the new zoo in 3 years' time.

How big was this turtle really? 51.5 cm might be more believable.

Wonder what market research this is based on. Better than when they extended the runway (to 30 metres :) )last time I hope.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

The photos in the article are pretty similar to those posted by caller in the Thailand Floods of 2018 thread a few days ago. The article also talks about releasing water to prepare for coming rain in the next few days and runoff from the nearby mountains.

Re: Local TV via aerial transmission - still available?

You need either a DVB-T2 set top box or TV with digital tuner, plus appropriate antenna. Thanks very much. When you say antenna, are we able to use that which we already have, such as in this picture, in conjunction with the DVB-T2 that you mention? No idea. Possibly. I've only ever tried with an i...

Re: Local TV via aerial transmission - still available?

Thai terrestrial digital channels are broadcast from antennas on Hin Lek Fai Hill. You need either a DVB-T2 set top box or TV with digital tuner, plus appropriate antenna. Some channels went bust but there are still the main national channels available plus a few others.

Re: Thailand Floods of 2018

Isn't that the dam where Hua Hin water comes from? If so there shouldn't be any supply problems for the foreseeable future. Pete  Yes. And Kaeng Krachan also these days. On the TV news the other day they showed water being released from Pranburi dam (as in one of the pics above), saying it ...

Re: Railway Crossing Safety

^^ I think obedience is only a small part of it. After all an obedient population would obey the traffic laws, as well as other laws. The main criterion is control, and fear is the key. Fear of the state, its organs and influential people. Some laws will get you a 500 baht fine, but speaking out of ...

Re: TV and internet packages....latest offers

I didn’t know G&T did fibre internet! That might be the answer. You might see their trucks around town advertising HiNet fiber. We have their cable TV only, which isn't too bad for 2500 baht per year. Not much good English language TV though. They supply Sky Net sports from Burma, which usually giv...
