Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
On the credit advice, I get monthly by e-mail from Bangkok Bank it is stated on the bottom: This is a computer-generated advice. No Authorized signature is required. Anyone know if Immigration accept that or is it to be on the safe side best to bring twelve months with printed advice`s back to the ...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
I Allow me a few other questions! Does the Credit advice`s have to be brought back to the bank branch for signature or can I only sign myself and take them to immigration? I simply print the Credit Advice attached to my e-mail - nobody signs them. If and as example I`m permitted to stay until 25. A...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc
As I said above, I do not use Bangkok Bank, but I am led to believe a visit to Bangkok Bank will enable you to set up an automatic e-mail containing your Credit Advice every time you transfer from overseas. You simply print the document when you receive it. If that is correct, the only bank visit w...

Re: Plumber, Electrician, Handyman required.
My kitchen sink drain was clogged a few days ago. I consider myself a bit of a handyman, but after trying a few things I decided I didn’t want to deal with it myself, so I searched the forum, found this thread, called them up and scheduled them. I called about 8:30am, they said they were busy in the...

The i-things - Apple devices and software thread
For about a year now I’ve been building a smart home using Apple’s HomeKit architecture and technology. For those unfamiliar with the concept of a smart home, it’s using technology to automate tasks and functions in your home. For example, when I’m ready to go to sleep at night I simply say “Siri, G...

Re: Refrigerator repair shop?
I recently had a similar need for refrigerator repair. I used a company called SMT Electronics, phone 032-547155, and was quite pleased with their service and results. Looking at their invoice I see they also have a website, www.smtelectronics.co.th

Re: The journey to a Yellow Book in Hua Hin
Apologies up front, sorry for dragging this up again. But could someone update me on the best way to go about obtaining a yellow book. We went to the Amphur office today and the lady gave my wife a slip of paper in Thai basically listing docs required. One was asking for a translated version of pas...

Palm Tree Trunk Disease
I have 3 palms in an “island” area of my garden, one of them I recently noticed has developed some soft areas on one side of the trunk. There is an area where slimy yellow liquid is leaking out and has dried on the side of the trunk. The trunk seems mostly healthy, the soft area extends about 1/3rd ...

Re: VISA stay for one Year. Thai bank account necessary?
Do yourself a favor, get the O Visa instead of the O-A. O-A requires health insurance, O visa does not. Both can be obtained in your home country before you depart for Thailand.

Re: Reliable Air Conditioning Service Company.
I need a new air conditioner for my bedroom, which is 5 x 4 meters or 20 sq m. I currently have a Daikin inverter 18000 btu unit which I purchased new 7 years ago. The Daikin works well, but it’s noisy. I have it professionally cleaned 3 or 4 times a year and I regularly check and clean the screens ...

Re: The Home Air-Conditioner Thread.
The new Samsung Windfree A/C's are the way forward (though bit pricey) - use dramatically less power and are self cleaning so none of the pesky 500 baht quaterly cleans! Quiet as a mouse and very even flow. Anyone else have experience with the Samsung Windfree self cleaning air conditioners ? I nee...

I just read this thread, from the beginning, for the first time. BB, Glad you got everything sorted and the new tablet is working well. I’ll be interested to follow if the new Uk account or region settings result in the applications your looking for becoming available so you can download / install. ...

Re: Buying a new Forza or Xmax
3. The Forza comes in 2 models, the base model is 179,000 baht (at 2 different dealers) and the higher end model is 2,000 baht more. I was told the only difference is the high end model has Bluetooth connectivity. With the base model you can choose from between 5 colors (including the Blue color th...

Re: Bangkok Hospital Development Work
I was there last week for several days, visiting a family member. We all wondered what was being constructed so I finally asked. The hospital will be doubled in size from 60 beds to 120. The new building will include a parking garage. After thinking the cafeteria was closed down, we eventually learn...
