Re: Citizens of 93 countries will soon need ETA permit to visit Thailand
If it's anything like the system implemented in Malaysia, I'm all for it! 1. Fill out ETA on your phone within 24hrs of travel. Receive email back confirming that is thas been accepted or click the link to correct any errors 2. Once you arrive, get of the plane and walk to the automated passsport sc...

When I had this problem I only observed it in two bars in Soil 94. I tried both WiFi and 5G. Same problem.

Are you connected to the establishments wifi? Does it happen if you are using your own mobile data?thecolonel wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 7:59 pm As best as I know right now this particular establishment is the only place it happens,
Might be a network issue moreso than an app issue or bank issue.

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?
Vietnam has way more motorbikes on its roads, yet far fewer fatalities, I wonder why. For one thing, they wear helmets. The percentage of bikes to cars is higher, and the speeds in Vietnam are much lower than in Thailand from my experience. Fastest i have ever been in a car in Vientam has been 90km...

Re: There's a gremlin in my aircon remote!
Look for a part number / model number on the remote and serch specifically for that. Aliexpress has been a good source for AC remotes for me in the past.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:51 pm
I guess I'll have to use a Hitachi approved shop in Thailand and see if they can help.

Re: Thailand's increasing intolerance of alcohol
Maybe should rewrite the topic title to "increasing intorerance of everything." Whole of Asia is heading down this route. Care to elaborate, Spitfire - the whole of Asia?? - that's a big part of the world, where's the evidence please? Certainly no problems getting a drink in Vietnam that ...

Re: Travel in Siem Reap, Cambodia
Great place! Make sure you hit the Angkor complex early in the morning to avoid the tour bus rush. Organise a Tuk Tuk or three days, and make sure you're at Angkor Wat for sunrise and head off from there. Pub street in the evening to relax. Hit up the Foreign Correspondents Club if you feel like flas...

Video: Nopparat Thara Pier to Railay East (Krabi, Thailand)July 2014
Another in my series of 'poorly produced and badly edited videos of nothing interesting in particular'. This time, a quick trip on the ferry from Nopparathara Pier to Railay (Krabi). Paul Weller fans might enjoy this one more than the previous videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkXWLK1fOjQ https...

Video: Saigon to Vung Tau Vietnam on an old Russian Hydrofoil
Once again, another poorly produced and badly edited video of nothing interesting in particular. This time catching the old Russian hydrofoil from Saigon to Vung Tau in Vietnam in July 2015. It's an interesting trip through the big ships moored around Saigon then down the Mekong Delta to Vung Tau. K...
