Re: Opinion: Hua Hin education standards rather dismal
The opening Paragraph says, "Examples can be found throughout Thailand, but the focus here will be Hua Hin" As the article keeps referring to Hua Hin I quite naturally assumed that as the author states "but the focus here will be Hua Hin" that he was focusing to Hua Hin. If he wa...

Has anyone been to Bangkok China Town recently. I need to do some serious shopping for the Somtawin School Annual Christmas Fete and want to know if I should take my boat, waders or snorkel?

Shooting in Hua Hin Saturday.
Saw a report on TAN NEWS this morning that a well known Hua Hin property developer was shot on Saturday. The report said it was a female who drives a Mini Cooper. Appears she was lured to her head office and shot by a "professional" hit man. Property development in Hua Hin appears to be a ...

Re: What will your kids do after they finish education?
You are so right; one on my three daughters went to Royal Holloway, London. She did a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Geography. Took about seven years and was so expensive. Got a fantastic position in a Shipping Company after 4 years this was "no longer challenging" She is now a happy flo...

Re: Somtawin ejecting kids with late paying parents
To clarify the current position on this thread all fees due to the school have now been paid in full except for a few instances where families are having difficulties finding a lump sum and in those cases the school has entered into an agreement with the parents and implemented alternative monthly p...

Re: Somtawin ejecting kids with late paying parents
POOSMATE WROTE “At the moment Somtawin is sitting on the international education fence. It offers IGCSE courses but exams must be sat elsewhere. This result in all coursework not being allowed to be taken into consideration consequently an A or B grade cannot be achieved” Somtawin is not an Internat...

Re: What will your kids do after they finish education?
This is a very good topic, one that few parents have considered. My daughter is 13 and holds a UK passport. I hope she will sit at least 10 of the 11 IGCSE subjects offered at Somtawin and then return to UK for further education. If she stayed here and did A levels in Thailand we would then be faced...

Re: Somtawin ejecting kids with late paying parents
Poosmate as a parent of two children in Somtawin who obviously cares about the welfare of the children come along to the next PTC meeting, find out how many parents have not paid and the reasons for not paying we can then discuss how we can do more to help those in need, not those who deliberately a...
