Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

I've noticed these past months that their wording seems to be trying to cover all eventualities. This but then that....maybe.

For me it has been hot season temps in the east the past two days. Burn the skin off your back if out without a shirt. 36-37c easy. Pete

Re: Hua Hin - Pattaya ferry project news and updates

There hasn't been any update on this for many months now. Is it still running on a regular basis, reliable, few breakdowns etc? Hopefully someone has been using it and is up to date with news about it. We are in the low season again and perhaps the frequency will change. Any news appreciated. Pete :...

Re: Astronomy, cosmology and space thread

No telescope needed to see Saturn on June 27 Saturn, with its remarkable rings, will be visible to the naked eye on June 27 and astronomers are urging people to have a look. The gas giant will be at its closest point to Earth this year and in opposition to the Sun, with Earth squarely in the middle...

Re: Hua Hin Forum software upgrade

Somewhere at the top of every browser there is something you can openly see, or click on, which will indicate the security status of the site. The forum still has a few sponsor links pointing to another resource that has not been converted to https yet. It's a very minor issue Lev will address short...

Mine does the same thing because of my bookmark which had the www address. Change that bookmark and put in the new one from Norseman's link and it should hold and you won't see the www any longer. Pete

Edit: Both www and no www works and you'll still see the forum page you're going to.

I been told that wearing tan khaki long pants is a dead giveaway that you're a Yank. Beware! I used to wear them all over the place there in the 80's and it seemed like locals were wearing them also. So, things have changed or the whole thing is BS. Pete

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

You're right, Tofu by itself is a tasteless substance. The Japanese serve it many different ways though and it can be very tasty and a normal side dish with a Japanese meal. Pete

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

Last night was Japanese night this week and the problem was not the tofu as I had none, but used soy sauce. Little if any sleep, disgusted and up after 3 hours. Noticed some minor lip swelling last night. Perhaps not the first time but never noticed it before and was alert to it because of one of th...

What is your Passion in Life?

This in a way is a follow on to Vital Spark's thread "Pivotal moments in life" . What is it that you would really love to be doing that you're not. Everyone has that little niggle in the back of their head, probably since childhood, that you would like to be doing something but for one reason or ano...

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

MSG. It is in many Japanese dishes. It can keep you awake, cause headaches and diarrhea. That stuff is everywhere over here. They shovel it in by the spoonful in Thai weetiel (sp) soup and dry, and most all Thai food. The same in HK, China, Singapore etc. If MSG is my problem then everything has to...
