Re: Investments and Savings

Hello everyone I believe this thread has become controversial and I take the blame for that and apologise for it and any ambiguous comments I have made. My error of judgement here has been a bias towards what monetary gains can be achieved and not enough disclosure on the issues of the security of p...

Re: Investments and Savings

Good afternoon Mr Poosmate. Have I done something wrong to you in a past life. You do not know me, or have ever met me. I find it insulting and childish of you to refer to me as ''another barstool professional''. Anyway it's clear from your comments about financial advisors being guilty of featherin...

Re: Investments and Savings

In answer to Chopsticks. Re currency movements. If it goes in £s it comes out £s. Same for THB, USD and every other currency. So lets say you put in £100,000 for one year at 6.5% pa. You will get back £106,500 that's guaranteed (Providing Gadafi does not invade Australia and wipe it out). There's no...

Re: Investments and Savings

Hello everybody and thank you for your interest on this subject. To me this is a very interesting topic. A lot of you may well have funds already invested here, but you are not aware of it. When you go along to lets say Llloyds TSB bank and put in your £100,000 at 2% per annum, where does your money...

Re: Investments and Savings

Info for Noz. I see a lot of Investment and Savings accounts that say tax free. I think this term can be missleading. These are generally offshore accounts (where you are not a resident or taxpayer in the country where the account is held). Therefore these accounts are exempt from tax to non residen...

Re: QROPS PENSION TRANSFER

Hello Veronica If that's the case you should give more detail and name and shame whoever is at fault. You cannot say to everyone don't bother with a QROP because yours is being badly handled. I generally deal with Guernsey Retirment Plan. The lenght of the process varies. It can be a couple of weeks...

5 Year reporting rules to HMRC. The HMRC requires that all QROPS providers notify them of any payments from transferred pensions for the relevant member. This does not apply unless: Has not been resident in the UK for that year or any of the preceding five tax years. Paul Simkiss IFA Email: paul@glo...

Re: QROPS PENSION TRANSFER

Reply for Barry Stone. You have now told me by pm that your pension fund is in the Republic of Ireland. So whoever told you it was not possible to transfer it, was wrong. However it does not come under the UK QROPS schemes as defined by HMRC because your pension fund is outside the UK. It does come ...
