Roadside assistance

Post by Checker »

My wife informs me that with motor vehicle insurance you also get roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown. Is this correct ?
If so how does it work?
It's now or never.

It is true with my policy and I think with most but it may vary by company. Be sure and check the literature or ask the agent that question specifically before you sign up.

It is true, but major failures only. They will not repair your vehicle at the side of the road.

Check the small print. I think if you call them out and they find you have a flat tire or have run out of fuel you will get a really fat bill which you will have to pay before you get the vehicle back.

The breakdown service had a hell of a fight with a taxi rental company in Surat when my brother in law fell asleep and wrote his BKK taxi off.

I’ve noticed that around Bangkok the insurance company that I use, (Vihaya, or however it’s spelt) have breakdown trucks touring around, but I’ve never seen one anywhere else.
