Oxtail Soup
Thanks BigBoy! Yes we just got plumbed in for lekky. Trying to sell the old gas mantles on E bay as we speak. Its actually worse than you think though - I'm in Lincolnshire! Seriously though I do a Morrisons run every week (have them as well) and never seen oxtails there. I do look at their butchery dept and often get their stuffed rolled belly pork. Its very strange that oxtails are widely available elsewhere - and very very unfair! Kick scream stamp

A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

Don't throw your toys out of the pram - very expensive anyway. I cringe everytime Mrs BB pays good moneyt for bones and grizzle. Still, it gives the chickens feet a rest.margaretcarnes wrote:Its very strange that oxtails are widely available elsewhere - and very very unfair! Kick scream stamp

Do you live in Scouse land BaaBaa? What with Mags Oxtail (my local Waitrose & butcher sells it) and now your post on pies, it appears that the north-south divide is greater than ever (quite a relief actually

Plenty of meat and spud pies around this neck of the woods!
Talk is cheap

That green crap is liqour - basically a parsley sauce and sadly not much in use now (my parents preferred it with Eels). Now you have set the taste buds salivating!!!

Nope, still meat and tatties around here! Maybe there is more meat?Onlyme wrote:Baabaa, I think you'll find that meat and potato pies were turned around in the mid eighties, becoming potato and meat (European directive?)
Caller.my parents preferred it with Eels. I know Ernie els lives down south,
did your parents have him round for lunch?
If we had that 'Els' around for lunch, he ended up being chopped into little pieces that only stopped wiggling independently of each other after a few minutes in the pot! I wondered what had happened to him?
