For local expat residents, I don't think you can see the poll results as you can't vote
You can see 'em. Just click on view results. I'm local and didn't vote but I can look at the results.

unofficial tourism poll

I cannot believe that anyone who lived normally in the UK during the IRA terror campaign would be bothered by what is happening in BKK, it seems from news broadcasts that all the dead or injured are actively involved, unlike the indiscriminate targetting we suffered. BTW my new property will be ready in HH in April so nothing will keep me away.

Although, if people living elsewhere open The Nation´s web page, it could cause some reason to think about the trip again.

i know the prices for the week baa baa states is always a lot cheaper but i like to fly direct if i can or if not a european stop.
some of those mid east stops are far to long for me to contemplate :(
Just to cross threads - if a stop in the mid east is enough to put you off getting a cheap fare to Thailand you are NEVER going to catch me up!!!

Try looking for horrible dates to fly like Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve etc and you will find some good fares as no one wants to fly on those dates.

Years ago we flew to India 31st Dec - great flight and New Year was actually celebrated for the first time in Bahrain - we had a few New Years along the way.

just realised what I wrote previouly goes against the clock, what I should have said was that we were actually in Bahrain for thier New Year but we celebrated New year throughout the flight especially New Year in the UK just before we landed despite the fact that midnight had well passed in India

It would seem people do fly on these dates as they are not cheap at all.

I tried that as it works some years, but I booked for the 23rd as it was actually 100 euro cheaper than the 24th.
Airline pricing is a lottery at the best of times and you just have to keep trying different approaches, there is a chance that prices might even drop if the financial crisis worsens, but I wouldn’t rely on it.

I think the question would have been easier to answer if it had been - due to the political turmoil here, or because of the worldwide financial crisis?
Certainly I woudnt be put off going because of the unrest but the financial crisis has floored me big style...

not really putting me off moja, just i'd rather spend a bit extra & not be sat around in an airport lounge for several hours.
baabaa's 2 1/2 hours in the business lounge isn't to bad, but some are 5-10 hours in the riff raff's zone where you won't see much change from a tenner for a beer & a sarnie

Not at the moment,

I arrive on December 17th for 5 weeks and I'm looking forward to getting back to HH.

I also plan on driving from HH to Nangrong(Buriram) to my house, maybe driving through bangkok is a different story.
