Post by jonk1981 »

sorry if this question has been asked several times recently, however I am returning to hua hin in late november for a couple of weeks and like most of us I have been watching the baht drop like a stone against the uk pound.
today in the uk the "tourist" rate stood at 50. What are the current rates at the local banks and exchangers please ?
In 8 yrs of coming to thailand ive never seen it this low !!

jonk,

You're right, this has been asked several times. The current thread is here http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... php?t=9497. You're probably best off checking the local reates yourself - I use this one http://www.bangkokbank.com/Bangkok+Bank ... +Rates.htm, but there are plenty of others in the other thread.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

Jonk,

To save you reading the whole thread, The summary is:

Keep an eye on UK government actions.

Nobody knows what's happening with Baht but it could rise even more.

The ATM gets you the best transfer rate but will incur charges by your UK bank and they vary from bank to bank. You can reduce your costs quite significantly by taking out larger sums at a time to avoid your bank's multiple minimum charge fees.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do except hope for return to a higher rate.

Or by opening a Nationwide account.
