A fun thing to do in those places is flick on the light suddenly and watch the cockroach races.

Hi.
She could try the guesthouses along the sea north of Hilton (Bird, Memory, Mod...). I don't know the rates but I guess around 300-400 B (100-200 is hard to find, I guess).

[ Links edited, no competing accommodation sites and Noodles is closed ]

Good luck.

Isn't there one of those hostel, backpacker type places on a soi near the bus station (right behind the old Hua Hin shopping mall)?

I've seen a sign for one there. I don't know how much it would cost but they are usually pretty cheap.

i believe theres a few on the beach ,think ones called the deck chair, but for a extra 20 baht you can stay at the sun bed but the other guests are a bit rough and full of fleas and ticks

My 1958 edition says the same thing.
To the OP, your friend will be doing very well to find accommodation in HH for the price range you indicate. HH's pretty expensive these days

Couple of years ago a friend of mine stayed in that Euro Guest House which is behind the Shopping Mall and paid close to 1,000 Baht per night. He wasn´t happy paying that much as he had also thought it would be much cheaper.
