Sealcat,
i would like to know why you have made the choice to live in Thailand, i know you have said that, one of you have had a strong association with Thailand and can speak Thai for 20 years, but is it because too be openly gay is far more easy in Thailand than say Australia or the U.K, i have been to Australia 4 times and to me it came across as still having a bit of an old fashion attitudes, in the U.K things have changed alot you can't discriminate aginst race colour or creed and also sexuality and race and genda crimes are delt with serverly.
There are now openly gay PM's i.e Michael portillo wren's in the navy have gone to sea, and know you can be gay in the armed force,s.

HH is a great place not really in you face, nice and chilled out,and i think you have made a great choice for a new life, thats where i met my wife and it will allways be special place for us, i just hope that when we end up living there that it doe's not change too much from now.

I have the impression that everybody here shows good will. But I think its a shame that an excellent intention from Sealcat to start a thread where other gays could give a contribution mostly have turned into a quite different discussion. SO! plz get back in track and let us see if there are other "men-men" orientated people here and in Hua Hin who want to socialize -not sexualize.
Personally I come from a country where same sex can get married officially and where the closet are closed, so why the fuzz....!?
I really hope other gays will join this thread.

Can I respectfully suggest that now the euphoria of Sealcat's OP and the opportunity to make fun has passed that somebody start a new thread, and ask Buksida to fulfil his offer to make it a sticky specifically for the Gay Community. Give the thread a heading making it clear what the purpose is, and hopefully you will be able to use the thread as you intend.

Incidentally,
We don't have a problem with light hearted banter... it was taken as it was meant. In fact, we haven't taken offense at any comments made here so far... fragile we're not!!
I was pleased to see that comment, it is exactly the thing that Gay workmates who I have known in the past would have said.

I wish you well in your quest

Very sorry Buksi, my memory is obviously going as I grow older. I don't know why I thought you had written it - honestly I'm not having secret fantasies :D

Kendo I do not know where you have been in Australia, but the fact that you are gay is certainly not a hidden fact here in Australia. I have lived here for 27 years and people go about their business in a normal way without hardly any hassle.

If you are that way inclined there are certain areas and pubs where they all frequent, but most of the time nowadays no one really give a dam what you are and most of the time mix with the community and get on with their life in a normal fashion.

There have been some very famous sportsman/TV hosts/presenters that have outed themselves and this has gone a long way to the community accepting gays into day to day society

Most major cities have a Mardi Gras pagent through the streets in the city, the one in Sydney regularly attracting hundreds of thousands of people to the city from all over the world.

This attitude would probably not be as widely accepted into country areas, as they seem to still have some outdated views on the whole gay scene, but all in all city people have just seemed to accept it as a normal way of life now.

Hi All

I’ve purposely refrained from replying to any of the recent posts, not because I’m disinterested in any way, on the contrary, they’ve been quite informative. Main reason is I don’t know the personalities involved and don’t want to comment inappropriately as it would probably send this thread in yet another direction.

As for the posts in a general sense, there seems to be a “history” with a few members, but heh, if we were all the same, what a boring world it would be. For us personally, we are very happy with the response to date and tho little real information as emerged, we have seen the diversity of the HHAD community in action.

As for the gay sticky, HHAD will determine it’s worth in their own time.

That's not the way I read it. The way I read it was that Admin made the offer, but you have not responded.

BB, Norseman

The HHAD site is a commercial operation and I would expect they would make decisions on that basis. I would gladly get involved and any project to engage the HH gay community through HHAD or otherwise... but I need to know the operational details.

FYI, BB, your "tone" can sometimes be a little abrupt... can i suggest you choose your words a little more sensitively?

I am very sorry if it came across as abrupt, I was genuinely trying to steer you in the right direction. I fully support what you are trying to achieve. No abruptness was intended.

We all have our own style of writing, and I accept what might sound OK to some, may not sound so good to others. I refer back to my earlier comment.
Live and let live
That does not just apply to sexual persuasion, it applies in all walks of life. This forum accepts members from all over the world, with a variety of language and writing skills. It sometimes pays to read a post a couple of times to extract its true meaning.

Again, I apologise if my attempt to help you was misunderstood.

Sealcat,

I have been thinking about our conversation regarding 'sticky' and I wonder if the problem is that being fairly new to the forum, you don't actually understand the meaning of sticky.

If you look at the FAQ page, sticky is described as:
What are Sticky topics?
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in viewforum and only on the first page. They are often quite important so you should read them where possible. As with announcements the board administrator determines what permissions are required to post sticky topics in each forum.
The way I have understood your understanding of what has been said is that Admin are offering a Gay site (forum), but that was just a suggestion from Caller to Buksida (I've checked this time :D  ). Admin have given you the option of a sticky thread.

The sticky would simply keep your Gay thread at or near the top (if there are other stickys) of the relevant forum.

You've got me worried since your abruptness comment. Again please take this (irrespective of the way it may read to you), as a genuine attempt to clarify something for a fellow forum member.
