Thanks everyone. I actually wouldnt mind booking on the internet, and I probably would if I knew I'd be certain of my dates (bit of a control freak), just wondered if it was required.
Was thinking somewhere along the beach maybe. Perhaps Khao Taiab. Up to 2000 baht maybe.
A few more questions I thought of, If we had bicycles would it be easy to get into Hua hin from there?
I also wanted to see a bit of the surrounding areas, is it easy to get to them? ?
I've seen ads for Motorbikes and such, but is it possible to hire Mopeds, do you need a licence for them? ?
thanks everyone, can't wait to visit.

Hope I can help
You can bike to Hua Hin. Good road but stay left for gods sake.
Infrastructure is good. Rich part of Thailand. get 'close' to a taxi driver. Many good people, and cheap.
Don't know what you mean by 'moped' (I'm not English speaking). Bikes in HH is 100-125 cc. Small stuff and very convenient. You no need license. There are all over. Rent for 100-150 a day for shorter periods.
Have a nice trip

They have mopeds here, (50ccm), but I've never seen any for rent.
However, you do need a drivers license to run motorbikes in Thailand.
100 ccm and up.
In Hua Hin I would not mind if I had a license or not as the police "never" inspect or care. Apparently.
In my 3 years time here I've been stopped twice on motorbike and had to show my license on both occasions.
Other parts of Thailand have a much more conscientious police force that checks this on a more regulary basis.
Before you rent a motorbike you should get some rides with a motorbike taxi to learn the traffic pattern in HH.
You will then observe that most bikers don't have a license and are traffic offenders as often they can. No respect for anything except for bigger vehicles.
Drive careful and forget about your right of way.
March is usually pretty hot. If you rent a bicycle, remember your water bottle and a cap.
See u mate.

Yodels, some of the questions you asked have already been answered, but we was in HH in June this year and went to the Koh Takiab beach area.
For 2000baht per night you should be able to get something really nice. There are a couple of very reasonably priced resorts called the Koh Takiab Beach Resort and the Bluewave.
Both I think are 3star and looked OK. my GF who is a travel agent went and had a look and thought they were good value.
The prices were cheaper than the 2000baht budget that you have set.
If you go to Koh Takiab Beach and stay, you must go and have dinner on the Rua Rimtarn Restaurant.
It is an old boat that is parked on land in the middle of the fishing village. Do not be put off by the look of it being expensive, the food and drinks are very very reasonable.
Try and get a table up on the open top deck if it is a nice day.
If you find that it is a bit far out of town there, we stayed at the Baan Duangkaew Resort: 83/158 Soi Talay 12, Takiab Rd., Hua-Hin Prachuabkhirikhan Thailand
It is only about 4kms from the town and would still be within your budget. The rooms are Thai style bungalows, breakfast is good, staff a very friendly, there are two pools and most of the rooms have view to the pool.
Your are about 2mins walk from the beach.
They also have a free shuttle bus into town at about 11am in the morning and 6.00pm at night. Taxi back was normally about 100-150baht.
Hope that info is of use to you, if you use the search facility in the forum, and search some of my other posts under the user name of Chelsea, you will find some other info about the area that you might find useful for your stay.
