Thank you to the mods for allowing my earlier post to be shown.
What has been really good to see is that the recent contributors to this thread have highlighted what is really the biggest problem with owning assets in this country and have opened it up for discussion with some really useful advice and experiences, not just bar hearsay?
The problems concerning property ownership in Thailand are usually related to Farangh/Thai partnerships and are miniscule in comparison to the number of properties owned by Farangh. I feel sorry for those few who have been burned, and being told it was your fault, I know I do it, is of no benefit to you but as a consolation I am sure that with many of us it really was “but for the grace of god go I”.
I am sure that Cheng has gained some useful advice and can make that decision to go forward and I am sure we all wish you the best of luck. Chok Dee even.
HHAD topics should be far reaching and the fun side is a useful tonic to us all but to couple it with some useful discussion on thorny matters such as this, providing advice and substantiated experiences that are of interest and benefit to the citizens of Hua Hin and Thailand, holidaymakers and those thinking of moving here has helped to create a solid community spirit here and long may it continue.
Maybe the discussion about owning assets and the protection of those should be started as a new thread, I am sure there must be others who would like to see this matter given a right good thrashing!
I am off to give a little white ball the thrashing of its life, that is of course if I can actually hit it!!!!!! Oh and ehrm I don’t own the freehold of the balls, I rent them for about 5 Baht a ball from the Thais that collect them back when I have finished throwing them in the rough stuff and the water!!
