Hi my name is Bob, i have a thai wife and have been going to Thailand for about 6 years.
I discoverd Hua Hin about 2 years ago and me and my wife rearly liked the place, you know things to do but not like Pattaya.
I have recently invested in property and would like to do so again at some time in the near future.
If all goes to plan maybe i can live in Hua Hin in about 6 years i hope.
Sorry to be so boreing but there you go.
Can anyone give me any details on the recent floods and the areas that were affected
Thanks Bob :D

Hi all, great site. I've been lurking for a while after finding the site using google.

My wife and I had our first holiday in Hau Hin in August this year and absolutely loved the town and people. Thailand is one of our options for our retirement, this site has helped loads in our research.

Keep up the good work 8)

No, the natives are ok, but we make them in a desperate attempt to stop the farangs - straydogs - cobras and elephants from intruding your property. Also well suited as an eyeflap.
Any other reasons guys?

newbie to the site

Post by poolshark »

hi all.
i have been coming to thailand for three years and i have been to most places, except ,you've guessed, hua hin.

i was married in april and my thai wife is from nong khai.

i was looking at udon thani as a place to eventually retire to, in about two years or so. but having come across this site, i think it must be worth a visit to hua hin before i decide on anything.

i will be visiting thailand again in the spring and maybe looking at property.
having read some of the topics on this site regarding falang ownership of property, i think i might rent first and get a better feel for the place, be it in hua hin or udon.

does anybody know if there is a direct flight from hua hin to udon thani?

hope to meet some members when i get there.

cheers

Unfortunately flying from Hua Hin to anywhere in the world is limited to kite boarding at the moment. Well, there is one charter flight to/from BKK but that's about it. Best way to make the trip between the Som Tam City and the Fishing Village is by flying to Bangkok and then proceeding your journey with a taxi.

Let me introduce myself.

Post by Ancientmoron »

Hi Lev and all other site users. I'm the Ancientmoron. New to this site and new to Huahin. I'll be visiting for a couple of weeks and will arrive next Wednesday.
I know LOS quite well but usually go to Bangers or Patty. I'm a semi retired teacher/ engineer and may well be looking for a teaching post if I like the area. I speak some Thai (badly) and am looking to improve this. Home is Lincolnshire, England.
If anyone takes the trouble to read this and fancies replying, I should like to know a) What's the jellyfish situation and b) where would I find other users drinking on Thursday evening?
Regards to all. Ian. :D :D :D

Introduce myself

Post by ianc66 »

Hi,

I'm not a particularly new member -- just got round to introducing myself.

I'm British and worked mostly on a freelance basis in the computer business. Worked in Bangkok 1991 to 1994 but saw little outside Bangkok, in 1995 back in the UK I realised I could come to Thailand on holiday  so I did and rented a car and travelled. Hua Hin was the first place I stayed south from Bangkok -- The Sofitel-- great change from the usual business hotel. So I worked and traveled until I retired here in 2002 at 50. Now I live here full time -- I've been out of Hua Hin three times Bangkok and Chaing Mai for at total of about 10 days this year.
Now about to move into a new house to the South of town -- off Soi 112 if it is ever finished :?

Not a bad life.
