What are the decorations downtown for?

So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

There are very colorful decorations on the main cross street going west from the traffic light beside Satukarn Square and TOT.

Does anyone know what this is for? :?

Yes, definitely for the Kings' birthday. Then they are left up usually over Christmas, (New Year, Chinese New Year, Songkran.....)

HM The King returned to Hua Hin last week, so I was told by somebody doing some work in the palace, so the tasteful decorations are very approriate.
