My first home computer was the Dragon 32 (made in Wales i believe Jaime) later upgraded to the 64 - it was out around the same time (1982) as the Sinclair Spectrum, BBC and Commodore range but i believe was the first one with colour graphics (of a sort) and was more robust and customisable. The 32 and 64 referred to how many kilobytes of RAM they had! It was very similar to the TRS80 apparently and i also learned to program in BASIC. I used it for a number of years despite its limitations, as it too had the cassette system initially but later had floppy discs capability when modified. I actually still had both 32 and 64 working and shipped over with all my other stuff when I moved permanently to Thailand around 2000 as I thought they would at least be good for any kids I had to play with; unfortunately they disappeared with a lot of other stuff when I split with my first Thai wife (not taken by her but someone else) in 2002 but I had already bought my first Mac (G4) in Thailand by then (having dabbled with and disliked Microsoft based PCs in the UK).
Writing this i've just realised that I've been a geek for 26 years now!!!

5.25" = 360 KB and as "High Density" = 1.20 MB
3.5" = 720 KB or as "High Density" with 1.44 MB
You can believe me... it was terrible to Backup and Restore a 20 or 40 MB Harddrive :-)
And... BTW: my first Computer was an Commodore VIC 20 (VC20)
Somsak
Bought my first one in 1998. A Sony Vaio with 4.2Gb HD. Funny really because its the only thing I brought with me to Thailand even though I can't switch it on.
While on the subject, maybe somebody can tell me why it won't switch on. Let me say that it was working fine and then it gradually started switch off all the time until it just would no longer start up. This happens even when I remove the battery and run it only on mains supply.
Who knows.............maybe oneday it will be worth a fortune...........any buyers.....lol

Hi Randy
I actually thought it might improve when I came over here because the problem first started while I was living in an old un-heated farm cottage outside Aberdeen. Bloody freezing it was so just as well the missus was enjoying the novelty of making a fire everyday...lol
My heart goes out to you back in the UK just now. Rather you than me though as I don't think I could take that cold again.
