Lithium AA batteries in Hua Hin?

Hi folks,

I gotta power hungry beast that sucks AA batteries dry.
I need some power and the manufacturers reccommend lithium batteries.

Anybody seen any floating about in Hua Hin?

I don't know about that but I'll give you a warning about the "Panasonic" batteries you see for sale everywhere here. They may be Panasonic, but they say made in Thailand on them and I've ruined several of my personal electronics with them (including a $350) MP3 player because they all leak eventually. And I don't mean if you leave them in and don't use the device for months or years. I mean within a month or two of inserting them, I've had at least four battery operated appliances wrecked by these leaking pieces of s..t!

Never had that happen once with U.S. purchased batteries!

back i the U.K. i was a battery wholesaler. i had some sony alkaline that had been made in Thailand. well in date in fact had about a 5 year life. i had such a problem with them leaking that i never stocked them again. never had a problem with panasonic but then i only stocked made in Japan. just one more thing not to buy if made here.

try panasonic oxyride. these last twice as long as alkaline and should be o.k. for you. mine i bought in Macro, made in Japan, cost pack of 2 for 58 baht. i have seen them in 7 eleven but make sure that they are not made here.

All rechargeables will have a shorter life than charged.

If it's cost rather than longevity you are after then try a camera shop. They have the best supply of batteries. The best make I have seen so far are Sony.

If you want decent non rechargeable then you can get genuine Duracell but also Kodak badged batteries are very good. You get what you pay for.

As hhfarang says the Panasonic batteries made in Thailand are crap. I don't see how they have allowed their name to be associated with such rubbish. Also watch out for the equally as bad Duracell lookalikes.

BTW, does your "hungry beast that sucks AA batteries dry" do anything else?

The lithium batteries I seek are non-rechargeable ones Guess. They are the most expensive AA batteries but are formidable in using power hungry devices.
The device I use warns against using re-chargeables too.

Never had a problem with torch/camera batteries(all sizes) in over 10 years of at least a box a day average .National are short lived and weak to say the least but duracell and panasonic always as good as uk .
