They will be back, they have already stated such. The red (grenade throwing) mob will now be out in force, this lot are far more dangerous than the PAD by their willingness to take lives.
I'm afraid this could just be the beginning.

This is when things could get really ugly, Thaksin already has a name for his new party - "Puea Thai" and enough cronies to form it. The whole cycle will start again unless there can be an international overseer to the elections to prevent vote buying. This is unlikely to occur as all Thais in positions of power generally don't like foreigners and see them as a threat.
What the PAD have done is inexcusable, they have bought the country to its knees economically and tarnished its reputation internationally ... but do they care? no, "they are only farangs". They have however been peaceful in their protests and only used violence when attacked first, 'carnival atmosphere' has been used to describe most of their protests.
The UDD on the other hand are now out for revenge and they have showed on numerous occasions that they are ready to kill. They are there for the fight, not to make a political statement, the demographic characteristics of each mob are poles apart. Things could get very violent on the streets in the coming months and guess who the scapegoats are likely to be ... those damn aliens again.
There will be no winners in this battle, only losers.

Yes, that’s right, only the PM and the executives of the party are banned for five years which still leaves 216 elected ex-government MP’s who according to the law are still in office.
They will try to stand under another name and call a motion for the house to vote for a new PM, but they would not be assured of a majority as there are 480 seats in the house.
It maybe that some mechanism is put in place to stop that happening, but that would be against the constitution and therefore basically a coup of some description.

about the vote buying ?, which seems to be the main point of contention

what if the new party form with an incentive that offers tax reductions & rebates for the poor in return for their votes? pretty much how western democracies get the poor working class voters on their side

vote buying all the same, but not classed as corrupt or illegal

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Re: views
Good idea, as long as they do it for the South also, improve education and offer some incentives to the middle classes they'll be in power for a long time and peace may return.redzonerocker wrote: what if the new party form with an incentive that offers tax reductions & rebates for the poor in return for their votes?
