Can you provide a source for this? newspaper? government website? Thaivisa is hardly a news source.

I can't believe in this current climate that immigration would make it harder for foreigners to come here - but I could be wrong.

This all stems from PPP, and Taskin, he still has a lot of power with Police etc, he already stated he would make UK pay, this is his childish way to hurt British, but it hurts the Thai tourist industry more.

Passengers arriving via an international airport will obtain a 30 days stay, and for them there is no change.

Travellers with Malaysian passports will obtain a 30 days stay.

This police order number 778/2551 is today confirmed by Royal Thai Police, Immigration Bureau, in Bangkok.

Cheers buksida, changes to all visa's also.

Retirement visa, for first year have to show 800,000 in bank for 1 year not 3 months.

Anything else negative they can do!

Foreigners can neither fly out of this country, nor get in for too long.

Where did you get that info regarding the 800K?

Just been up 102 for a 90 day stamp and they assured (??) me nothing has changed in terms of money in the bank and no mention of the yellow book either for my renewal in March:?

90 day stamp took 30 seconds and they did it at 12.30 in their lunch break

Any chance of a translation of the Thai docs shown by Buksi?

It's strange how much it's changed in the last 6 years or so. Now the easiest way to stay, unless you're really rich, is to get a work permit and that is much easier than it was. When I first got here 7-8 years ago, almost nobody I knew had a work permit, just working on tourist visas etc. If you met someone with one it was almost shocking, now it's reversed, everyone has a work permit and staying here in another fashion other than is a real 'rollercoaster', how it's changed.

Any thoughts on what has caused this reversal gents/ladies? Would be interesting to hear opinion.

Believe me it was far easier to get one 7-8 years ago than today.

The only thing that has changed is that Hua Hin has been flooded by foreigners opening businesses in that time frame. Before the clampdowns you could get away with doing a little side work, when TRT first came into power they started cracking down on it and arresting foreigners - so they all had to go and get permits.

They should make work permits harder, how do so many farangs stay here running there real estate, property business's, its stated in the jobs for Thai only farangs can not deal in land or property if this rule was enforced then most of the agents, developers would be gone in an instant.

all the problems on here posted are about shady agents, developers and lawyers.

or on the other hand bar owners selling under age girls in bint - a -robber.
