Keep the Kro, Bill. Industrial brew, aka weasel piss.
Get some Pelforth or Jenlain if people want good French beer.

bill the must have drink around here at the moment is Aspals cider available in bottles or on draught - the premier cruz is the one to catch you unawares tastes a little like apple juice but at 7% soon does the damage
im sure it would go down better than magners

Sorry BW, but I agree with Bill. It wins all sorts of awards but didn't do anything for me for the reasons you state and is very expensive. I'm quite into cider now and apart from the stuff readily available everywhere (such as Magners, Bulmers and the like), ciders come in many differing forms, just like real ale. One mans fancy is another man's poison. IMHO Magners in the UK is way overpriced as well for a nothing special, but perfectly pleasant tipple - great marketing though.

i agree magners is badly overpriced here in uk and to my mind not worth a penny - a local bar from mine charges £6 a pint for magners where as my local charges £2.60
with regard to aspalls it has seen a massive growth in the last twelve months and they are now contracted to tesco which should see a slight drop in price - whether they can keep up with production will remain to be seen the reason i am aware of aspalls is coz they are just down the road from me
how many "local" apples can they find!

BW: Will you please stop it! Just the mention of Aspall Cider gets my glands salivating and destroys the taste of my cool Chang.

It's 'brewed' not far from Framlingham (my home town) and last time I went back I was hooked on the stuff. The draft is superb and Aspall Blush in a bottle is equally good.

I can assure you BB, that BW won't be the only person in the queue if you manage to get your hands on a barrel.

For all you lovers of Cider, we have a blinding drop here now, Stowford Press Weston Cider. Not so sweet, clear and fresh I would say. made from whole apples not concentrate.

I used to love cider but got my brains scrambled when holidaying in Somerset in 1976 (the very hot year). Stayed on a farm in the middle of nowhere and scrumpy was on tap from the barn. The farm was run by two old hags, they were probably only in their 30's.

There was sour or very sour and a tinge of rat flavour included. Went home with a 5 gallon drum on the roof rack on my knackered beetle. Good for cleaning the toilet and patio tiles.

Maybe time to make a civilised comeback
