Red hot chilli peppers

Post by Randy Cornhole »

I have just noticed prcscct has a new ranking. RED HOT CHILLI. It looks a tad odd in orange being as it states a RED HOT CHILLI?
Perhaps all others should be Orange and 3000+ posts Red? Just a thought... :|

Yeah as mentioned in the mods meeting notes post there are a couple of new ranks - you get the red hot orange chili when you've reached 3,000 posts, there is another one at 5,000. The reason it is orange is simple, rather than change the colour of all the other red chilis we only had to change the colour of one lot! Stop trying to make more work cornhole!

Even though the title is "Red Hot Chili Pepper" the orange color is appropriate as arguably the hottest chili in the world is the habanero...

(They do come in red and green as well but orange seems to be the most common.)

Go on then Buksi, what colour is the 5000 post chili? Or are we going to be teased until someone hits that number?

I lied a bit, not 59 until 2/19 but I'm getting used to it already..bloody hell... :guns: I orginally joined as HH was on my short list when I moved back here this time, but it was not to be. Anyway, we have many members now Thailand wide which provides this forum with some good and diversified information and insight. Perhaps you will be a member of the Issan branch in the future. :D Pete

I must admit I read Spitfire’s post in the same sense of confusion as Randy, but now it’s all become clear!

dorset naga

I have never heard of this one. I know nothing about chillies, except that they are very hot. I was always led to believe the 'scotch bonnet' was the hottest...?
Its funny that when discussing chillie heat if there are 10 people in the discussion then there are 10 diffrent hottest chillies...

Come on you chefs what is the difinative answer... :?

According to Wikipedia...

"The "heat" of chili peppers is measured in Scoville units (SHU). Bell peppers rank at 0 (SHU), New Mexico green chilis at about 1,500 SHU, jalapeños at 3,000–6,000 SHU, and habaneros at 300,000 SHU. The record for the hottest chili pepper was assigned by the Guinness Book of Records to the Naga Jolokia, measuring over 1,000,000 SHU. Pure capsaicin, which is a hydrophobic, colorless, odorless, and crystalline to waxy solid at room temperature, measures 16,000,000 SHU."
