BTW, 160 kph is 100 Mph. If you are in the UK the limit is 70 Mph, how many of you/everyone else stick/s to that?

Might be more enforced back home but doesn't mean they are any more law-abiding, few drive at 70 Mph(on the motorway), which is actually 112-113 kph.

IMO, the average speed on UK motorways/dual-lane roads is about 90 Mph(144 Kph). Not so much difference really.

Hua Hin to Cha Am...

Rider, I agree that everyone has the right to live, or die however they want. But you do not have the right to decide how some poor innocent dies because of your irresponsibility. If you want to impress us with your skill I`m sure someone on the forum can point you in the direction of a racetrack or disused airfield.

spitfire,
Not so much difference in the speed, no, but a huge difference in road conditions; when was the last time you saw a pothole in a UK road? How many motorbikes do you see on the road? How many people are on them? How many open markets are situated right next to a 6 lane highway? How often do pedestrians attempt to cross a 6 lane highway? How stringent is the Thai driving test in comparison to the UK one? How many stray animals do you see wandering around on UK roads? How often do you see unmarked roadworks being carried out? And how often on a motorway?

One final point though - where did that statistic about 90 mph being the average speed on UK motorways/dual lane roads come from? I find that extremely hard to believe. My estimate would be more like 60 as an average and only motorways, possibly less if you take into account all traffic at all times. Outside lane only might average 70 or 80 but motorways were designed for high speed travel - the road between Hua Hin and Cha Am was not! Other multi lane roads in the UK I think the average speed would be even lower.

This thread has got a bit silly. The shit hit the fan because of this stupid comment:
Rider wrote:... a biker buddy from websters was nearly killed when he hit a 'pull-out' bike as he rocketed along at 260kph!!!!
... as though that was something to be proud of. Everything else has stemmed from that. Rider has (obviously deliberately) stirred it up with his pseudo-macho comments, but he's talked himself down to 140 kph in recent posts.

It's so easy to get wound up, whether you're behind the wheel or behind the keyboard.

If you don't like it DONT post, we don't need to hear the cry-babys and whiners.

If you think 160kph is bad you are in for a very rude awakening out on the road.

WL, I drive regularly between Aberdeen and England. Trust me when I say 90 mph and 100 mph is the norm.

I already have and will continue to do so thanks :)

The whining, bleeding heart liberals are out in force tonight! It sounds like mothers-meeting sometimes!

Are you by any chance one of these peoples that wants micro-chipped cars that prevent people from even going faster than 70mph??? Cause you sure sound like one!

I have the right to ride how I want and some whinger isn't going to change it. It sounds like you ought to remember where you're living and understand not all of us want a carbon-copy of the UK here in HH ;)

The poster ranting about the 260 kph needs to calm down.
I wasn't supporting that! I was emphasising that extreme speeds BEYOND 160 kph take place. I don't necessarily agree with that.

Finally the poster ranting on about Cha-am being a busy road obviously hasn't driven it that much. If you watch the OP you'll see hardly any traffic at all.

I’m not having a go at you Rider, go as fast as you want, but when it comes to rights I think you’ll find that they run out at 90 kmh on that bit of road!

It's funny how 160kph seems a lot faster than 99.42mph!

Rider, how many seconds did you hit that speed for, it can't have been for long?

Rider,
Given how flawed I feel your judgement is on this issue anyway, i don't think I will trust you on this one. Whenever I am in the UK I use the motorways and normally drive near the speed limit, and I am normally travelling faster than over 50% of the other vehicles, and this has been the case whenever I have driven in the UK. Thus the average speed on the motorways in my estimation will never reach 90 mph. Factor in that some motorways are at a standstill in some sections and this impacts further; however this statistical analysis and guesstimation is too far off topic really. Not that there is much more to say really.

Not really disagreeing with too much of that WL, quite right, still think they drive a bit quicker than you think back home, I certainly remember everyone doing so. Didn't say 90Mph was a definate statistic, says IMO.

My first post on this thread summed-up how I think and mentioned a fair few points you did in the above post.

Just thought it was becoming a bit too much of a 'hang-em high' thread and perhaps needed some argumentitive balance, rightly or wrongly, just did the 'devil's advocate' position routine.

Maybe I should have left it at the end of my first post. :|
