dear me the place looks like New York!
just found this forum quite by accident, very impressive.
i can't believe the size of Hua Hin these days
my name is Rick Ellis and i spent most of my time between 92 and 95 in Thailand, much of it in Hua Hin.
i owned the All Nations Guesthouse for a while with Tony Tonks of the UK, looks like it has disappeared. i also had a restaurant in Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 19.
it would be nice if anyone could drop a line about some of the people that were there at that time, OK, i expect no miracles, it's well over 10 years.
Terry Tansley
Frank Gilbride the golf pro from the UK
Don Inglis from NZ, the original owner of All Nations and his honey Jaew
Tony Tonks of course as mentioned
Kelly the golf pro, have to remember his last name (Polish) from Canada
will think of more
thanks for any info!

Hi and welcome to the board Rick.
As far as I know the All Nations Guesthouse is still up and running.
I believe a Canadian owned it around 2003/2004, but I don't know his name.
Have no idea if he still runs the place now.
It would be great if you have some old pictures of the town from the time you stayed here.

Terry Tansley - if he is the guy who project managed the building of the Melia (now Hilton) Hotel and subsequently ran T's Bar, he is now located on the other side of the Gulf.
Frank Gilbride is still here but retired (I worked with him at Hua Hin Golf tours).
Kelly Cherkowski is now back in Canada.
Please PM me if you want more info.

Re: dear me the place looks like New York!
Many thanks!
I will look up Kelly and find him when I go to Canada sometime, he is from Alberta. I had a brain cramp about that Polish name :-)
Yes, that indeed is Terry that worked on the Melia by the ocean. A lot of people died building that hotel. T's Bar was red hot at one point, the babes were hot and the fried grasshoppers were delicious.
There was quite a golf crowd at one point, just remembered another name: Steve Agin.
Four more pls:
Duncan from NZ that owned a restaurant
Robert van Dompselaar from the Netherlands that owned a Guest House very close to All Nations, can't remember the name
Gary Green, a huge Englishman who had a Guest House way south of the center of town. He used to arm wrestle anyone for B500 and win.
The owner of the original Italian restaurant close to the ocean front, can't remember the name of it. He was super-integrated into Thai ways, had a red-hot Thai wife too.
Many thanks to all for the trip down memory lane!
It sure is a great town!

Steve Agin was the original course superintendant at Springfield and was there during the building of the course. He moved to China and was again involved in the building of a Nicklaus course. I believe he later returned to the US.
Duncan Campbell who had the restaurant on the corner of Naebkehards Road created a business making and selling Dunc's Pies. He passed away a few years ago.
Robert, I believe, had the Pattana Guest House. He is no longer here as far as I know.
Gary Green is still here and as large, if not larger than life but sold the Seaview Guesthouse and created the Dolphin Bay resort. He later sold that and now is busy with other things.
The Italian restaurant I guess would be Los Stivale and run by Enrico and his wife Orm. Enrico still has the restaurant. Enrico and Orm are no longer partners.
