UDD requests police to not block its commute to Cha-am, Hua Hin
Thai News Agency Feb 23, 2009

The red-shirted group in Ayutthaya province has called on the police to not block its commute to Cha-am and Hua Hin districts during the ASEAN Summit at the end of this month, otherwise conflict escalation can occur.

A leader of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) in Ayutthaya, Mrs. Mayuree Sawettasai, said that the group recently received a report from its alliance that the police as well as military and government officials have set up blockades along Phetchakasem and Rama II Roads, which lead to Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces, the locales for the 14th ASEAN Summit to be organized on February 27-March 1.

Therefore, she warned that such execution might elevate the situation as it might enrage all red-shirted supporters throughout the country and thus create a negative image on the government during such an important occasion.

If they have any sense they'll lock that road up as tight as a ducks arse. There will be road blocks everywhere so getting from Bangers to the Hin over that weekend will be a nightmare.

This province and all south of it are generally Democrat supporters so if the reds do get through there will be carnage.

The deeper south you get the more democratic it becomes. There are a lot of Thaksin supporters in Hua Hin and it might be safe not to venture to the protest areas during the meeting.

True, a lot of HH's population are originally from Issan, I'll have the camera ready and be straight in there!

Doubt they'll get through though, there is only really one major road to block and we know the authorities are quite efficient at doing that!
