I get mildly teed off by constantly reading posts like "I've sent you a pm".
These are presumably necessary because some people don't check the top of their screen. Would it not be possible when you have a new message to have it light up in 6' flashing capitals before leaping out of the screen and slapping you on the forehead? [/b]
But this begs the question why do people need to announce that they've sent a pm?
self importance?
it's sometimes annoying when the pm involved is part of a problem solving thread & you follow it in the hope of learning the final solution, only to be still left in the dark at the final hurdle
Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
A box and an email? My god, what have I been missing all these months?

I think that probably for newer members, who may not yet understand how the PM system works, a posted alert might help them know that something's waiting. Also more experienced members will understand that if they can still see their message in their outbox, rather than sentbox, the recipient hasn't seen it. So, it may be a nudge.

Let's everyone send DM a PM so he feels better. Pete

Another small point is that you obviously only get the PM message box if you log on, and as I often access the site from different computers around the airport, I don’t bother to log on until I want to post something, so in that kind of instance I wouldn’t always know.

The pop-up window appears when I use I.E. but not with FireFox, which doesn´t allow them.
also.
Until I read BG's message I was going to say that I had not received any since I'd switched to FireFox, and was going to ask how to allow pop-ups. It seems that a weakness with FireFox has been identified .............. unless somebody knows how.
