Well said Superjoe. When fit enough he has offers in Bang Saphan to take him to Hua Hin to thank his friends personnally. I think it will be sometime however before that will happen though.
He is currently being taken to and from the hospital at Bang saphan on a daily basis by Cliveyten and that short trip tires him out. They are letting home at night at the moment so they are obviously pleased with his progress.
He does realise that he must take care himself otherwise he will be kept in the hospital something he does not want to happen again.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news. Is anyone going to see him?

sad news, keep your chin up guess & i hope things get better in the near future

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
This situation is getting worse and worse.
Unless he or his wife are able to pay for the previous day's costs medical help; they will not be given help with his condition the following day.
Yesterday his wife was given a bill for over 10,000 baht, because he needed a blood transfusion. Who knows what he will need tomorrow.
This is a desperate situation, if you can help, in any way please PM me.
The restrictions from the hospital also include pain medication. Nobody, or no living being, should have to experience this because they don't have the money to pay for the treatment they require.
It is illegal under Thai Law for a hospital to treat one of it's own this way. But hey, he's just alien after all.

Sad news to hear that.
I know that some hospitals in Bangkok, for sure Samitivej (Suk Soi 49), treat people and then give them a bill at the end of the treatment. This is without insurance, deposit, financial checks etc. They gave my wife a CS birth, room and all the side treatments without a penny upfront. Someone else I know they did a major op and then waited for the money to be sen t over from family in States.
Could this be an option for Chris ? They may be a bit more expensive (although maybe not reading Richard's above post) but they are also first class so may 'fix' problems in shorter time, reducing prolonged fees.
Just a thought.

I'm with SJ on this one. Surely a move to a less of a ripoff hospital would be better all round? As JD said 10,000 for a blood transfusion is well out of order. Life saving treatment ideally should be free, or at least treat now pay later. And why the need for a transfusion anyway?
At the end of the day of course it's up to Chris whether he is prepared to move to another hospital, but it sounds like he certainly needs the continuing support of you guys out there.

Something appears wrong here! Last March I suffered a heart attack that required me to be sent by ambulance to Bangkok for angioplasty at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok. A total of 10 days as an in-patient (6 in ICU), the operation, doctors' bills, medication etc cost nearly one million Baht. We didn't have that money and my wife arranged to pay off the account monthly. We will be paying for years to come but I am still allowed treatment on my regular check ups. May I suggest that somebody checks with Chris's hospital if the above is an option?

Has anyone thought of going to the press? Not sure if the Thai nationals like the BKK Post would run it, but you could try. I think the UK papers might be interested, though. I would have thought a British citizen being denied treatment in a Thai hospital because of money difficulties might be a story they could run with. It might even get him donations towards his bills. Sure, there might be the odd person carping about health insurance, but I think the general feeling would be one of horror that something like this could happen.
Just an idea.
