George,
Is that Somtawin pitch in the town or by their 'international' school? If the latter you may well find that it will affect the numbers attending; ideally you want something relatively near the centre, and that was one of the problems we had before, because a lot of the people interested in playing didn't have transport or time to go too far out. That may have changed now of course, but for convenience sake and the social side it would be better more central.

This may be a good opportunity for an enterprising rescue truck stocked with all manner of defibrillators, breathing devices, gallons of liniment and miles of ace bandages. Pete

PS: I cold keg of beer would probably fit the bill as well!

Hi George,
I am in for playing once or twice a week. I'll send you details via PM.
As webmaster of the Hua Hin Dutch Society (nvthcdotcom) I could mail to our database of Dutch people to see if we can get more people active. My son plays in Somtawin senior team. The pitch is at the new school, 18 km out of town. I have an open pick-up which can carry at least half a team up there. Coach Frances is a great and enthousiastic guy and probably has no problems supporting. I can ask him. Besides playing mixed or even for our national flags, there is quite a number of Thai-Nepalese (matches at 7 AM...), police and hotel teams in HH to play against. Besides the Somtawin pitch there are at least 2 acceptable pitches, one in Kao Takiab and one following the Klong Road to Cha-Am, taking the turn at the water-tower (sorry, no name...).
Kind regards,
Niels

niels,
The last pitch you mention is the one in Samorphong I mentioned before which looks OK and is not so far out of town - would be a good compromise if it is available when we need it.

Meeting Held

Post by lee808 »

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting last night in the RED BAR, and thanks to George for setting it up and putting on the Bangers & Mash.

A good meeting was had by all I think it will be agreed and the first training session will be held on Thursday 26th - 5pm.

We will meet at the Red Bar at 4.30pm and travel up to the venue together, so that everyone knows the whereabouts of the pitch.

We still need more people to become involved so please spread the word around town and if you want to come Thursday feel free to come and join in.

Anyone that wasn't there and wants more details on what was discussed please feel free to PM me and i will email you over a copy of the minutes taken.

Hope to see everyone Thursday.

Cheers

Update

Post by lee808 »

Yes we are still looking for players, anyone is welcome to come and join in.

Next training session is this evening, 5pm start. If your not familiar with where the pitch is you could go to Red Bar on Soi Bintabaht and get a lift with George.

First match hasn't been arranged yet, we're still very much working on fitness levels !
