caller,
I didn't see the game but I have just watched the highlights on a YouTube vid - I think there is a case to argue that while Gallas was in an offside position, the last touch before it came to him was by the Hull keeper, which I think, technically, means he is not offside. I'm also not sure if he actually headed it in as it also looks like it came off the Hull defender. However that is a moot point really. Wenger is a bad sport - he has proved it time and again by refusing to shake hands with opposing managers on several occasions, most famously Alan Pardew when he was West Ham manager, and later got fined for his general behaviour that day. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Fabregas had spat at the Hull assistant, and if it is proven I hope he gets the book thrown at him, and the club also get severe punishment, because it is obviously the atmosphere set by Wenger that leads to this sort of thing. I imagine that any history between Brown and Wenger goes back to the Bolton days, as Arsenal never liked playing them and there was always bad feeling between the clubs. Brown should have kept his mouth shut though and just made the formal complaint about the spitting, and will for sure get a big fine.

Looks like I might have resorted to a bit of tabloid reporting - seems the spit was at Hortons feet?!
Have to disagree about the goal, Gallas was standing in an offside position before the ball was crossed. It was funny that Setanta had a huge TV screen in the area the managers were interviewed and showed the incident to both. Wengers squirming was a joy to behold, he was literally hopping up and down and he did point out the referee gave a goal, so it was a goal.
Yeah, no doubt a charge of bringing the game into disrepute against Brown and a hefty fine, a tunnel incident to be investigated, spitting, Wengers behaviour on the touchline also to be reviewed - all in all a good night of footie!

Talk is cheap
I agree, totally disrespectful, though the Utd fans wont have to travel far.Big Boy wrote:What a disgrace

Playing a reserve team in an FA Cup Semi Final. 80,000+ fans travelling a 400 mile round trip, paying grossly inflated admission charges.
Manchester Utd should be made to compensate fans on both sides![]()
After he wrongly slams Benitez for this: http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t358 ... 1239479347
He is acting like this: http://i44.tinypic.com/21o4rjs.jpg
I cannot stand the man and his double standards, he's beyond the pale.
The so called reserve team on Man Utd, held Everton for 120mins and only lost on penalties. Does not say much for Evertons performance on the day does it if a half strength Utd side can hold a full strength Everton goaless for 120 mins.
Says more for the quality and depth of Man Utd's squad than anything about Everton.
There is no such thing as a 1st team now really. It is all about using the squad to its full potential and slowly blooding younger less experienced players into a big game atmosphere, not just throwing them in at the deep end.
If United had won we would not be having this conversation.
If one or two of those young players are on the bench for the Champions League games, comes on and has a hand in helping Utd win, the experience gained from playing in a big game atmosphere, could have helped shape that victory.
As I said before, it is a squad & team game, not a 1st eleven. The quicker everyone gets used to that and stops bleating about the teams that each manager picks for certain games, the better it will be.

Always Borrow Money from a Pesimist. "They Never Expect it Back"
I was having this conversation long before this match - last season in fact.If United had won we would not be having this conversation.
Any other week you could probably watch most of that team for a fiver playing in the reserves league. It's a disgrace playing 2nd rate (by Manure standards) players when the fans are being forced by the FA to travel 400 miles (round trip) and pay exorbitant prices. A definite case of Sir Alex sticking 2 fingers up at his loyal fans.

What are you talking about BB, most of their fans live in the south anyway, so not so far to go.Big Boy wrote:when the fans are being forced by the FA to travel 400 miles (round trip)If United had won we would not be having this conversation.

OK, I can't argue with that one
However, you'll never convince me that after getting to the stage of a competition where it is classed as an exhibition game, and needs to be staged in a special stadium that it's not poor show to field your reserve team.
How many kids were going along to Wembley for the first time in anticipation of seeing their heroes such as Rooney and Ronaldo play? What did it cost their parents to give them such a treat?
Playing your first team defence along with an array of no hopers because you know the opposition doesn't have a decent goal scorer in their team is no excuse.

now that really WAS disrespectful

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Re: manure
Lets hope Arsenal disrespect them all over Old Trafford then.redzonerocker wrote:one season not to long ago, they didn't even enter a team at all for the fa cupBig Boy wrote:
