I was there yesterday with a friend visiting from the U.S. We went up the stairs and walked all around the monk statue and even admired the view out behind it and I didn't even see the sunflowers... guess I'm not very observant.
I've been there many times and only on the last two visits have seen the added three headed elephants that people throw coins trying to get them to stay in the mouths for luck.
The elephants are anatomically correct (at least the one on the right when facing the statue) and strangely, there were three Thai women, an older one and two younger ones maybe daughters or a daughter and a sister standing underneath the elephant touching his male organ.

They were doing it for a while and chatting. Is this supposed to be a good luck thing? I wanted to take a photo of them doing it but was afraid I would offend so I passed on it, but they lingered there for a while. Does anyone know if a male elephant's private parts have some religious or lucky significance?
