Of course they can - England won the World Cup at Wembly etc.prcscct wrote:Thanks BB. However, what happens if the winning bid is from the city of one of the sides that ends up participating in the final. They can't let that happen? PeteBig Boy wrote:It changes every year. Clubs basically bid to host major finals similar to the World or European Cup competitions.prcscct wrote:Realize the final is/should be on neutral ground. Is it always in Rome or do they rotate, and if so, how do they decide upon location? Pete

And I thought you were a Spurs suppoter. I unfortunately share an office with 2 Spurs supporters. They were over the moon on Wednesday when Arsenal were knocked out, and they simply couldn't hold back their delight at Chelsea getting knocked out as well.JimmyGreaves wrote:I think chelsea were robbed.

I thought we were robbed as well, but you shouldn't have to rely on ref's to win matches. I missed the after match fracas because as soon as the final whistle went, I went to bed mightily disappointed.
The general view in my office today (all teams supported) was that the Mancs would have a harder job against Chelsea than against Barca. Time will tell.

Look on the bright side, at least there was no repeat of:caller wrote:I thought we were robbed as well, but you shouldn't have to rely on ref's to win matches. I missed the after match fracas because as soon as the final whistle went, I went to bed mightily disappointed.

chelski
you're right caller, having seen the highlights, there shouldn't have been any need for the refereeing decisions to rely on.
with the 'dummy spitting' from several of the chelski players hogging the limelight & rightly so, a little mention of good sportmanship got lost in the aftermath.
step up, john terry
who after the deflation & obvious dissappointment of losing such a big game, made his way to the barcelona dressing room & shook the hands of every barca player & wished them good luck in the final
the barca players & staff reponded with a huge round of applause on his exit from their dressing room
sportmanship of the highest calibre JT

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
I'd have to agree with that Caller, Chelsea are a much harder team to beat.caller wrote:The general view in my office today (all teams supported) was that the Mancs would have a harder job against Chelsea than against Barca. Time will tell.
If I could have hand picked Liverpools QF draw the last team I would have chosen is Chelsea. You may have a similar opinion about Liverpool.
I half wanted Chelsea to win because I'm convinced they would have beat Man Utd in the final, Barca, I'm not so sure.
United had an easy run to the Final but are still being hailed as the best team to have walked the earth, not as good as Liverpool or Chelsea, Man for Man IMO.

Arsenal are a different kettle of fish. Chelsea I don't mind winning the CL once as it keeps the cup in the UK. As for Man U and Liverpool winning it again NooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooBig Boy wrote:And I thought you were a Spurs suppoter. he's had his share of bad press, but sometimes you have to put aside all the bitter rivalry & just admire a 'genuine' sporting gesture.BaaBaa. wrote:redzonerocker wrote:sportmanship of the highest calibre JT![]()
