What are the opening hours for Peppers and is there a good selection of Thai food to keep the GF happy?

Had a look at this place on my morning bicycle ride....opening hours posted are 0800 to 2300...will be trying it soon

I haven't been there in a while, just because there's so many places that are closer to my house and I seldom play golf any more, but if it's still the same owners and chef, everything I tried there from burgers to Thai food was excellent. Do not order the jungle curry unless you like your food hot (as in spicy hot from chilis). If you do like it spicy, by all means order that dish as it was one of the best of its type I've ever had. :thumb:

edit:  I just looked back to the first page and saw there were already several mentions of the jungle curry... anyway, just proves that it's good... and hot!

Best to define what "crack" means for our non-British readers, or the DEA may start monitoring the forum. :D Pete

Peppers restaurant

Post by geomag77 »

Hi,

I just drove past where Peppers restaurant stood and was hugely disappointed to see that it had been demolished. Presumably it's something to do with the building work that is being prepared on the site of the old driving range. I'm gutted as their Tiger Cry was one of my favorite dishes in Thailand. Does anyone know if they are planning on reopening on a different site? It would be a damn shame if they close for good.

I was there over Christmas and apparently the whole site has been taken over by the new owner of the driving range. I understand that the restaurant is planning to stay in business but I don't know where yet, I'll ask my partner over the phone tomorrow if she knows any more.

Yes, a very good restaurant. Wasn't it run by John Withers wife or her family? If so, anyone currently taking (golf) lessons from him please ask about it and let us know.

Their landlord gave them 3 days notice to move out (promised them till end of March) so they upped sticks, currently trying to find a new location in the same locality. They will be back with the same great food and craic as before - when i know more will post here.

There are many people looking for suitable locations so hopefully it wont be long until Ya's famous tiger curry is back online and giving its eaters a good working over!

Lets hope they find something soon :)

Have news on the new location of Peppers, I have tried the google map thing but hasnt worked, will post that later.
The location will be a little off the main road to Pala U - basically drive past the driving range and turn right as if your going to the fishing lodge - drive around 800m until you drive thru a dip in the road (used to be a wee ford) and take your next right - follow the road along thru some corners and its about 1.5km down there - i am sure the guys will make some signs to show us the way!
They reckon around 3 weeks till open.
It proved very difficult to find any piece of land at a reasonable price on the main road and after being turfed out of 2 great venues in the last 6 years they are doing something on land they own - looking forward to great food from Ya again and the great craic around the big wooden table!
