Hi
I wonder if anybody can help me ? Im trying to find a shop or garage in Hua Hin or Bangkok that will sell me touch up spray cans of paint for my car. Its a Honda and Honda will not sell me the paint to do myself. Is there a body shop that will sell me this any where locally?
Car Spray paint
Back in the U.S., whenever I bought a new car, I always went to the parts dept before I even left the dealer to buy a little bottle of the color of the car to touch up small rock and door dings.
I tried that here and they don't sell them. I bought a brand new Honda when I came here and they didn't have touch up paint for it. A year or so later someone hit it and I took it back to the dealer for repair. When they finished I told them I wanted some touch up paint (again) and they had some left... apparently they mix it to match the color at the body shop so they gave me a little of the same paint they used in a little plastic container, but as it wasn't a proper container it dried up in a couple of months and became unusable.
Anyway, I think the only way you are going to get real manufacturer touch up paint here is to get the color number off a plate somewhere under the hood or on the door edge (location depends on the make and model of the car) and get someone in North America or Europe to go to a dealer and buy a bottle and send or bring it.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
The company Toyota came with a small can of touch-up paint.
There are small paint shops that will mix a small batch for you, but you need to leave a sample painted part with them for colour-matching. I know two guys at work who had to leave the fuel filler flap with the fiberglass top installers when they had their pickups modified.

I don't know if this is true but I was told by a body shop that the paint that Honda uses is a completely different animal than Toyota and others. I didn't get any chemical comparisons but apparently it's more expensive as well. I wasn't getting a Honda repaired so no reason for him to pull my chain. I know Honda has many colors with a metallic ingredient. Even their white pearl has a special look to it if you look closely. Pete

paint
Not sure how far down the technology chain thailand are with paint at moment - the old type of auto paint was an isocyanite based paint(2 pack) hard as nails but lethal in confined spaces.
Nowadays most auto finish is water based and a little bit safer

Re: Car Spray paint
What do you actually want to do with the paint, do you need to just touch up stone chips in the paintwork or do you have scratches on the plastics of your vehicle (ie: front/rear bumpers, side mouldings etc).flipperman00001 wrote:Hi

If you can let me know I can advise the best way of going about it.
Also if you can get the paint code from the Honda ID Plate on the vehicle, that will assist in what is available in the aftermarket trade as opposed to going to Honda.
There are 2 alternative possible.
1: Is a touch up kit which will come in a thin tube that has a brush on the end of the lid. That will enable you to touch in small stone chips etc.
2: You have the aerosol can can you can paint larger areas than the touch up kit is designed for.
If you cannot find the Honda ID plate, let me know the month/year build date and I may be able to give you the location of the plate.
If you give me the paint code I can see if there is an aftermarket kit/areosol available here through Holts and either see if I can find a Thai distributor of their products and also if one is done (not all are covered by Holts in Australia).
If not I saw on my last trip to Hua Hin an Auto shop in Market Village, it may pay to take a visit to see them if they are still there. They were located on the ground floor farthest away from the main road entrance.
