No where is it written that the so called "container" is a genuine ISO shipping container. In one report it is referred to as a "freight" container.
And even if it is a "shipping container", do not forget that TIT and it may well be a fake.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has allocated seven million baht from the central fund for the investigation of the contents of a container on the seabed off Chon Buri's Sattahip district, Central Institute of Forensic Science director Khunying Porntip Rojanasunan said.

The money had been channelled through Justice Minister Pirapan Salirathabibhagha, she said.

Khunying Porntip was speaking on Tuesday after a meeting of the Justice Ministry's investigation team which comprises herself, permanent secretary for justice Kittipong Kittiyarak, navy assistant chief-of-staff Vice Admiral Chumnum Ajwong and representatives of the departments of Special Investigation, Fisheries and Customs.

Khunying Porntip expected a team of divers would be able to examine the first container next week to see if there were human skeletons inside as rumoured. The investigation team would meet at the DSI on Saturday to finalise planning

Mr Kittipong said the dive team would find out what was in the container and whether there were any other sunken containers nearby. The DSI would find out who dropped them into the sea.

Relatives of victims of the May 1992 crackdown on protesters have asked the government to find out if the container does hold human remains. Many protesters are still missing.

Well Nereus, the cogs of action turn slowly here. Interesting!

Forgive my cynical post here but I reckon it will all have been cleared up by the time they eventually get down there. Too many vested interests that don't want to face the music. The armed forces don't need any more negative press at the moment as they have been caught with their indifferent, racist, apethetic pants down a few times recently.

Revealing something as sinister as this is going to bring many in the armed services to account. Won't happen, the site will be cleaned up before the press get to it.

I believe the fishermen as they are the ones there all the time.

Just to carry on my cynical  , I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they found two containers full of cartoon teddy bears that had fallen off a cargo ship 10 years ago and that they will prosecute the toy company for littering the environment at the request of the navy.
