KAKA world record transfer fee NOT

Post by Tony_S »

Real Madrid have announced they have completed the signing of Brazilian star Kaka from AC Milan on a six-year deal.

The fee is reported to be £56m, which would be a new world record in pounds, surpassing the £45.6m Madrid paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

The fee is in euros and has nothing to do with the devalued pound. If our pound kept falling then we would have world record bids all the time.

Zidane joined Real from Juventus for a fee reported to be 73m euros in 2001.

Kaka's fee is thought to be about 65m euros .... BARGAIN

I wonder if his shirt sales will pay for him as Beckhams did

Is Kaka 65/73 (89%) as good as Zidane?
Not in my opinion. A very good player but not an all-time great. :thumb:

Absolutely obscene!!
How you blokes can countenance this sort of activity and comparison is beyond the pail. It is this sort of acceptance by "supporters" that is in some part responsible for the current state of world affairs.
No doubt the spin off will be the continued employment of child labour to make shirts at a $1 a day for their efforts.

Kaka is something my son used to say as a toddler about his nappy and this transfer smells as bad. Isn't it ironic the AC Milan have to sell him because they are going broke and to a Spanish side that obviously don't care if they spend money like a drunken sailor in a country where there is 20% unemployment.

I hope Barcelona cream the ar-e of Real madrid next season!

PS you could have bought the Newcastle football team and got change.

The players value is not always about his ability....it is about marketability and what he will bring to the club.

Zidane shirt sales at the club shop on the 1st day amounted to 300
Compare this with 2000 for Ronaldo and 8000 for Beckham (at 78Eu a piece is 624K in one day from one shop)

I think the Spanish league will suit Kaka more and he will become more high profile and hence more valuable.

The Asian markets are massive and Liverpool and Man U seem to be well ahead of Madrid.

I was talking about what he can do on the field, not marketing.

If the money spent over the 6 year contract is recouped in merchandising then it will be GOOD business !!

It means they will have a gifted player that may help them win trophies for free :thumb:

Nice to know that he is starting his trophy hunt with a party in the US with Paris Hilton!
PS I always thought that sport had little to do with trophies but I guess I come from the old school where the competition was more important than the silver ware and good business ! Sorry for my dinosaur views.
