Sounds grand, we should get a reasonable spec machine out of that lot.

Bring em to the Hua Hin Ham & Bacon shop on Soi 41, its marked on this map:

thxs for the fasdt reply n map, i should be able to find it. ;-)
just need still to get power supply, housing, keyboard and screen to get a quite nice one, all other parts are nearly on the way already.
Unfortunately no more space left in suitcase for a 2nd mb. next time.

I have some friends here who often rebuild their pcs, so on my next trip we should have parts for at least 1 more pc

I don't know if this is of any help, I have a Packard Bell easy note laptop with 15 inch screen (Intel inside) :D that has been sitting in a cupboard for a couple of months since the battery charging system stopped working.

It still works fine, when connected to mains via the power supply cord, which I will send with it.

I'm not sure whether it is just a fault with recharger system, or if the battery just gave up the ghost, as it gave no warning of any kind, I suspect the former.

It runs on a genuine copy of XP which I also have.

The keyboard is the English qwerty type but I imagine Thai stickers could be applied to the keys, or I have a separate English/Thai keyboard that I could send with it, if that helps.

Sorry no mouse, just the touch pad on the keyboard.

My wife is hoping to come to Hua Hin in January 2010 (sorry can't make it any sooner) and could drop it in to JD at HH Ham & Bacon, or do you think that it will not be fit for purpose.

Please let us know if you think it can be of any use to the children at Mercy House.

Providing it works when plugged in it should be of use. Even if it doesn't we maybe able to use the hard disk or memory from it to revive another laptop.

If anyone has spare monitors, Thai keyboards or computer speakers we could use those also.

Just fired it up on mains power and it works fine. :)

I also stumbled across a pair of computer speakers (Creative brand) that I didn't know I had. I will send them as well if you want.

Let me know.

Yep, we need speakers but they must have the power adapter with them!

Thanks to georgy, who dropped off a whole load of goodies today, including motherboards, graphic cards, hard disks and a whole lot more. All carried to Thailand in his suitcase.

Thanks to Khundon1975, who today, through his mother-in-law, gave a very, very, generous cash donation to help out with matters for Mercy Orphanage.

It is thanks to you JD, Buksida and all the others involved in donating, that the computers are being collected and re-furbished for the kids at Mercy House.

It's good to discover the better angels of our nature.

 To you all.
